Daily MelWear: TGIF!

I don't know about the rest of you, but I am SO glad it's Friday.

I can't even begin to express how awful this past week has been.  Wednesday's post was just the tip of iceberg; that's not even the half of it.

Part of me wishes that I could go into detail about things because you are all so supportive and kind and WISE in your advice and responses, but that would be neither smart nor professional.  So I won't. Suffice it to say that while I adore my co-workers, the patients are great and the work that I do is okay, the actual working environment is not healthy.

I'm trying very hard to change my attitude.  I know that I make the choice in how to react to the environment around me.  This depression is hard to shake, though. I feel stuck because right now, I get Fridays off with my daughter.  I have yet to find another position where that is possible.  What I'd really like is to somehow work from home (doing something with the computer: writing, transcription, etc.), but I don't enjoy working on the phone and customer service/reservation agent/sales rep positions are the only ones that I've found thus far.

Enough whining. Sorry!

Today I just wanted to be comfortable.  I really considered throwing on some sweats and leaving it at that. Except that I don't even own sweats.  And my house gets up to 80 degrees in the afternoon; it's so hot right now that our AC can't keep up. Then I figured I might as well get dressed. This strapless denim dress is so versatile and gets a lot of use on weekends.  The cardigan great for warm weather because of the cap sleeves - and by the way, it's a really pretty purple but looks blue on my computer, not sure why. The belt gives everything some shape and it's elastic so it's still very comfortable.

And then there's the leopard flats. Can't go wrong with those. :)

Notice the lack of jewelry? Yeah, that's me just not feeling it right now. I may add some if we go out to dinner tonight.

My husband had a great birthday yesterday! His audition for The Mouse went really, really well so we're hopeful about that position. Keep praying! Tomorrow we're going to dinner with some friends for his birthday. I have no idea what I'm going to wear and may hit Ross in the afternoon if I can. If I come up with something decent, I'll take pictures.

By the way, I'm WAY behind on responding, reading and commenting right now (that seems to happen to me a lot) so if you haven't heard from me, that's why.  I'm trying! :)

What do you all have planned for tonight? Do you have any fun plans for the weekend?

Denim Strapless Dress: Ross

Purple Cardigan: Plato's Closet

Black Belt: Kohl's

Leopard Flats: Target

  1. I hope you have a fabulous weekend to make up for your week! I loved your comment about considering putting on sweat pants--except that you don't own sweat pants. Too funny!:)

  2. I've been in a work environment like that before. Even where I am now used to be a really unhealthy environment for *me.

Keep looking, and try to put a smile on your gorgeous face. When you focus on coming home to your little one and Pat, what you're wearing, your accessories, and the blog, you'll just go to work, do your job, and come home. I know it's a lot easier said than done. Trust me. I used to cry EVERY Sunday night because coming to work was hellacious, uncomfortable, uptight, and unhealthy for me.

Lots of virtual love. You look adorbs today. That belted cardigan looks amazing on you. I want a dress like that, too.

How do you not own sweatpants? I can send you a few ton. :)

  9. I am really sorry to hear about the toxic work environment in which you work, but persevere for now and soon you might find a more appropriate job. This market is tough. sigh.

I love that denim dress, you look so cute in dresses and skirts, I can't believe you used to only wear pants!

  11. I love this outfit on you Melissa. The denim dress is so,so cute! And congrats to you for getting dressed up on your day off. Here it is almost 10:45 on a Saturday morning, and I'm sitting around in my running clothes (notice I haven't actually gotten out the door to go for a run yet...).

  13. I love the leopard print flats - I agree it's definately hard to change your attitude towards work - I find that usually if I'm starting to feel a bit down it passes after a week or two (although feels like an eternity in the process!)

  14. Thanks ladies! Melanie, I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't own sweats. Hey, if anyone wants to send some my way, I'll take 'em. :)

Have I mentioned lately how awesome you all are? Because you are. :)
