This is clearly not a work-appropriate outfit for my office. So why am I posting it on a work day, you ask?
Because I'm not at work. I'm at home. I feel like poo. And you really don't want to see what I'm actually wearing today.
I felt icky most of the day yesterday and then as soon as I went to bed, it got worse. I felt nauseous, couldn't sleep, my head started pounding, I was shivering and then I was sweating. I probably got about two hours of sleep in between using the restroom, taking pepto, changing from a sweatshirt to a t-shirt, drinking water, coughing, tossing and turning. It wasn't pretty. I'm exhausted.
I got up at my normal time (well, a little later because I hadn't planned to work out), took a shower, and realized there is no way I can go to work today. So I called in. That's not something I do very often, but I had to. I'm completely wiped out.
My mom came over and picked up my daughter like she usually does, so I have until about 2PM when she is going to bring her back so that she can take her nap at home. I've already taken my Nyquil and as soon as I click "Publish", I'm going to bed.
Needless to say, I likely will not be doing much reading or commenting on blogs today. I'll be back to it tomorrow, I hope.
Anyway, this outfit is what I wore a few Fridays ago, with just me and my girl. Apparently I'm big on not wearing make-up on Fridays. I'm not entirely sure I'd be able to wear this skirt to work. It's a little short, I think.
Ooooh, pockets! |
Okay fabulous ladies, I'm going back to sleep. Hope you all have a great day!
The outfit:
Purple Tank: Charlotte Russe
Black/White Skirt: Salvation Army
Yellow Wedges: Ross
Necklace/Earrings: Wal-Mart
I hope you will feel better soon! Certainly your cheerful smile is helping you on the road to quick recovery :). A chic outfit never hurts!
ReplyDeleteOhhh dear. With all those symptoms it sounds exactly like what I just got over. Speedy healing for you. Just remember lots of liquids, rest and a good cold medicine.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you're not feeling well. Hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteOh no, I hope you feel better!

I'd SOOO wear that skirt to work....maybe with a black sweater....boots...I think it would look super cute!! Style it up with some jewelry...you will be all set!! See ya later tonight after work!!!
Wish you a speed recovery..it is awful when you are sick and can't sleep. Your outfit and accessories pair really well (love purple and yellow combo). I could wear your outfit to work on Friday with a sweater.
ReplyDeleteOh goodness I hope you feel much better soon! Get plenty of rest!
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is absolutely gorgeous! I love the purple and yellow and the flower accents on the shirt, shoes, and skirt! I wish I could recreate this look - too cute!
Oh, the flu is never fun. Hope you feel better soon. However, this outfit is really cute. I love the yellow accents with the purple and the printed skirt is so cute.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry you feel awful, Melissa! :( I'm home, too, but I'm taking a "Mommy Day," mandated by my amazing boss who has seen stress eat me alive over the past few weeks. I'm about to go refinish some bedroom furniture in my back yard with my brother! I'm praying for health to come your way. And this outfit you've posted is kind of to die for. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better and get some rest!!! I love purple and yellow combo it's great!

ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear that you're not feeling well! Hope you're back to 100% soon. I love this mix of colors and prints - yellow and purple remain one of my favorite combinations.
ReplyDeleteCute! And the college in the town we live in is yellow and gold, so I get to see these colors together quite a bit, and yet this still looks fresh to my eye! :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the colors, especially the sunny pops of yellow. Hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteSounds awful - feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime, I love all the colours in this outfit!
amazing pop of colour
ReplyDeleteand get well soon!
Sydney: You're sweet! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteMegan: I didn't know you were sick! You're much stronger than I am, I whine about it. I couldn't get much of anything down, just had some water. Trying to drink more today!
Kelly, Lisa, Kimberly: Thank you ladies!
Collette: That's a great idea, once it's a little cooler I can definitely wear the skirt with some tights. Yay! And boots, too!
Nelah: Thank you! My office tends to be a little persnickety (can't wear open-toe shoes, nail color has to be nude, blah) so I'm not sure it'd work for me there. But I always have weekends!
ShyGirl: Thanks! I'm sure you can recreate the look - you have lots of super fun stuff similar, don't you?
Keely: I'm not sure it's the flu; there's not much sneezing or congestion. Then again, I don't really know. Maybe it's just not a flu that I've ever had before. Either way, meh. I don't like it.
Kimberly: Thank you! What a fabulous boss you have. You're so lucky! Hope you had a restful (uh...refinishing furniture?) day yesterday!
Tricia and Sarah: Thanks ladies! I tend to pair purple and yellow together a lot. I love it! It's so fun and cheerful!
Bianca: Thank you!
Angeline, Backseat Stylers, Devilishly Pleasurable: Thanks! I'm feeling much better today!
ooooh lovin the purple top with the black and white skirt! fabulous!
