Daily MelWear: Purple, Gray and White

Oh, scrubs are comfy.  I'm really glad I was able to wear them yesterday.  As one commenter mentioned, I probably would yearn to get a little more dressed up if I was required to wear scrubs, but it would be nice to have the option.

Anyway.

This outfit is comprised entirely of items from Plato's Closet during Tax Free Weekend! Except the shoes. Those were on sale at Target. And the belt; that was from Wal-Mart.  Okay, MOST of the outfit is from Plato's Closet. Technicalities.

I think the skirt is a little short for work (How does that keep happening considering that I'm not even five feet tall? Shouldn't most skirts be too long on me?) but my boss wore one that was even shorter a few weeks ago, so I figure I'm just fine.

I love the embellished neckline on the gray tee.  I wish I had some gray pearl earrings to add but I only have white (ahem, FAKE) pearls. It's nice to not have to worry about jewelry though! I just wore my watch that I have on every day and I was good to go.  I tried on my wedding rings again too.  Still too small.  I'm back down to my pre-pregnancy weight, but my rings still don't fit. How annoying.

Guess what? Monday is OVER and we all made it through (relatively) unscathed! I'm going to celebrate with some coffee.

How was your Monday? Do you have any exciting plans for today/tonight?

Today's outfit:

Gray Tee: Plato's Closet (Charlotte Russe)

Purple Cardigan: Plato's Closet (Old Navy)

White Skirt: Plato's Closet (LOFT)

White Belt: Wal-Mart

Floral Flats: Target

  4. I love grey, anything goes with grey! It looks especially great with purple and I like that you added white - still summery! Just change the skirt to a darker colour and you've got a fall look going for you!

  8. Purple is my all-time favourite colour and it looks great on you!

Mondays are funny days... I dread it sometimes as it ends my weekend but I top it off with a glass of cabernet sauv to make me feel better!

  10. Those shoes are so cute, I love them!

And I'm with you on the fashion jewelry - I'm all about it. The few "real" pieces I have I got as gifts and never wear them bc I'm afraid I'll lose something.

  14. The skirt is lovely! I don't think it's too short at all. It hits just above the knee. I love the floral print shoe. It gives a great extra pop

  18. OOO...I love that purple cardi (my favorite shade of purple, coincidentally). It looks just divine on you. I've never been to Plato's Closet...the perils of living in suburbia.

  19. Thanks for your sweet comment! Hey, I just got a formspring account (and you were one of my inspirations for it) but I don't really know what to do with it! Can you give me a mini lesson whenever you've got some free time? brittanyhull@gmail.com

    Thanks so much!

  21. Great outfit! I love the purple. I'm 5'1" and find a lot of skirts are short on me too. What do tall girls do?

  22. Love the embellished neckline as well. I actually thought it was a necklace until I saw what you wrote.

  23. Look at you, girl! You look amazing. Grey is my new favorite neutral. I feel like I can be both casual and very classy. I have been PINING OVER THOSE SHOES for months! My Target and Target online have been sold out forever. My size was even sold out in my Target over two months ago!!! OMG I'm so jealous. I want them. Give them to me over email. :) Juuust kidding. But I am super envious because those are the cutest shoes on the planet.

  28. I love your purple cardi, Melissa. The color is so saturated and you wear the color so well. And I don't think I realized how petite you are -- I think I assumed you were my height (I'm 5'6"ish)...isn't that funny?

  29. Thanks ladies! Really, thank you all so much for taking the time to read and comment. I so appreciate all of your feedback!

I'm realizing now that maybe I should wear purple more often! I do have quite a bit of it in my closet.

20 York Street - topping off a Monday with a glass of wine is perfection!

Sydney - what are you doing for his birthday? A three day celebration sounds FABULOUS!

Lisa - YES, I often wonder what the taller girls do about these short skirts!

Kimberly - I'm sorry your Target is out of these shoes! They're so comfy.

Fia - I'm so scared I'd mess up the socks trend. So scared!

Jamie - Isn't it interesting how we percieve other people that we only see in pictures? Yep, I'm really short! Maybe I'll take some pictures with friends so that you can see how I compare. :)

A lot of you mentioned not being able to find anything in Plato's Closet. It's HARD sometimes. I've grown up going to Ross so searching for hours on end is normal to me. I'm used to it. I just have to plan on being there for a couple of hours so that I can take my time and really look at everything to see what I can do with it. It also helps to have a list of specific things that you need.

Thanks again for all the comments! I also really liked the purple and gray together, I'll have to do that again. Like Nelah said, great for fall too!

  30. I love those Target shoes. I was thinking of getting them, but was all maxed on the budget. I'm sure I can still find them on sale if I want. Our Targets don't even sell out fast of the designer collabs.

I just need that boycott to end, so Target please change political choices / research harder!
