Happy Tuesday, friends, and welcome to another edition of Everybody, Everywear! This month's theme is yellow.
Are we all on the same page about how much I love yellow? I love it. A lot.
Granted, I don't think it's all that flattering on me, a pale brunette, but I love its sunny disposition so much that I choose to ignore the fashion rules and flaunt the yellow anyway. It makes me happy.
I do have to admit that I'm not actually wearing this today. I wore it yesterday. We have a board meeting tonight and while *I* think this would be appropriate (considering some of our board members show up in scrubs or jeans), I'm fairly certain my boss wouldn't approve of the pattern and the bright yellow. And I don't know about you with your boss, but I'd like to keep my boss happy. Remaining employed seems like a good idea at the moment, especially as a single mom.
Speaking of which - I actually got to go OUT last weekend! My closest friends are the ones that live farthest away from me, so I don't get out much. I was whining to a local friend about it and she invited me to join her on a girls' night with her friends on Saturday. We went to dinner at a soup/salad/sandwich place and then hit the outlets (they're open till 11PM - WAY past my usual bedtime!). It was fun to get out of the house for a little bit. Granted, it was with a group of girls and not like I was on a date or anything, but it's a start. They're a great group and I had a blast chatting and shopping with them. I'm so grateful to my friend for inviting me!
And now I'm going to get some work done and hopefully take a peek at everyone else's yellow outfits.
Have a great day, ya'll!
Today's (uh, yesterday's) outfit:
Dress: Target (One of their daily deals last week! It's so comfy, I just hope it doesn't shrink after washing it; I'm planning to hang it to dry.)
Yellow Jacket: Burlington (came with a skirt)
White Belt: Wal-Mart
Gray Shoes: Payless
You look great in yellow...it is for sure one of your colors! Cute overall look!
ReplyDeleteOk, it just occurred to me that I'm not sure I have one single yellow item of clothiing... I think I need to go look in my closet, because that just seems odd to me! Orangies Attic
ReplyDeleteAs a fellow fair-skinned (sounds better than pale!) brunette, I have to say yellow makes me look like I have jaundice.
ReplyDeleteBut it makes your skin glow! Yellow definitely works with your skin tone! Love the whole outfit.
I think this is one of my favorite outfits on you ever! That yellow blazer is the PERFECT compliment to that dress. And I think you look fantastic in yellow :) Glad you had a fun girls night!
ReplyDeleteGreat dress. Yellow is totally not my color. Haha. Need to find for you my post about my attemp with yellow nails! Hahahah scary.
ReplyDeleteCute! Love all your fun poses!
ReplyDeleteHmmm...My hair used to be much lighter and blonder and I thought yellow was a bad match with that. Funny how we thought the same thing and our hair couldn't be more different.
ReplyDeleteI think you look fantastic in this, though. You look like you are having a blast in it and that's what makes an outfit!
Gosh, I love yellow too but forgot to wear it today ... so I am going to sneak in early tomorrow morning & it will still (hopefully) be the 12th in the US ... he, he.

I love yellow because it makes me feel perky! You look so wonderful, and I love your fun poses!
ReplyDeleteYou look great in your yellow! I love how you paired it with the floral dress.
ReplyDeleteAnd yah for a girls night out! And I am with you being out past 11:00, it is WAY past my bedtime.
I'm so glad that you got a chance to get out and have fun like a young lady should! I like yellow too, but I don't have any anymore. Cute shoes!

Pshhh!! What do fashion rules know anyways? I think you look fabulous in yellow! =)
ReplyDeleteGreat outfit! Love the gray shoes with yellow...what a great color combo! So glad to discover your blog.
ReplyDeleteI love the pattern on the dress! Seeing everyone in yellow has made me realize that I don't actually own a single thing in yellow. This needs to be remedied.
ReplyDeleteThe Bombshell Manifesto
You look great in yellow! I recently overcame wearing yellow (which I wore a lot of as a child since it is my mom's fav colour)! My old boss loved what I wore, we were such great friends and went on lunch shopping excursions!
ReplyDeleteThat blazer is utterly darling!
ReplyDeleteGreat look today. Girls nights are great and needed every once in awhile! :)
ReplyDeleteI love yellow too such a happy colour and it looks great on you. Fab print on your skirt too.
ReplyDeleteGlad you got to go out! Find anything good at the outlets? I love to wander them and window shop!
ReplyDeleteI have to agree, staying employed seems like a wise idea. I love the yellow against the blue floral, though. And I'm glad you got to have a great night with the girls!

So cute! Love the yellow paired with blue and gray. Girl's night is always fun!
ReplyDeleteHi Melissa! You look fabulous in yellow, and I really like the print on that dress. I'm glad that you went out with friends and had a good time. Don't worry about the whole dating part too much--when the time is right, it will happen. :)
ReplyDeleteYellow and blue are such cheery, summery colors. The way you put them together also makes them look polished and work appropriate!
ReplyDeleteLove the pattern of your dress!!
ReplyDeleteI love yellow, but of course I don't know anything about Everybody, Everywear. I'll have to wear it tomorrow when I actually leave the house!
I think yellow looks great on you! Especially this outfit mixed with the blue print.
ReplyDeleteYour night out sounds so fun! I love girls nights, but dont get them very often either.
It is always great to have a girls night out, especially when it includes shopping...love how you styled your yellow with the darker colors in the dress...you look amazing!!
ReplyDeleteYou look radiant in yellow, blue and grey! If you're pale, what am I? Lol! Congrats on the girls night out. I'm sure you need one once in awhile.
ReplyDeleteLovely! The yellow gives a dose of unexpected whimsy to your pretty dress. It "suits" you well.

Loving the way you put this yellow jacket with the blue dress. It's an unexpected combination but adorable. Srsly, next time I'm hoping I have the item required for EBEW! - Katy

Thank you for the encouraging comments! You are so sweet. I love the yellow jacket over the dress...new inspiration for me because I have the same dress. By the way, mine has not shrunk from washing, which I have done several times now.
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is YOU. Sunny, fun, and interesting with the mix of blues and the pop of yellow.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy to hear that you had a chance to get out and have some fun! Just no dancing on tables, k? ;)
Love that yellow top! So cute.

ReplyDeleteHi Mel. I am with Kish. Yellow is really you (bright, cheery, promising (you know, like how promising a day seems when the sky is clear and the sun is out). I love that dress and I love how you combined it with the yellow jacket. Your stores are open until 11? Wow!
ReplyDeleteI am loving your EBEW outfit!! And those gray shoes are adorable!
ReplyDeletei love yellow too. it totally perks up everything! this jacket is adorable and i love it with the dress. great mixing of colors, Mel!

Such a pretty outfit, Melissa! The darker colors of the dress remind me of a stormy sky -- one which the bright sunshine has just broken through. (Kooky, I know...) All that to say, I love this look and how you've mixed the colors! Great interpretation of the yellow challenge!
ReplyDeleteSo, instead of hitting 'mark all as read', I decided to just work my way through my list, with a limited commenting schedule...but I couldn't pass this one up :)
ReplyDeleteI think the yellow actually looks great on you, especially with your dark hair. I'm a big fan of the contrast. And I love that you paired the jacket with that dress. It's such a great color combination!
And I'm also glad to hear that you got out for a fun evening...everyone needs one of those from time to time :)
