Daily MelWear: Swirly

I really had no idea what to title this post, and then I looked down at my dress and figured swirly was appropriate.

This cardigan is a little too long with the length of the skirt (see the full length of the cardigan here and wow that dress would be too short at this office...) so I folded it under (hence the extra love handles around the waist - I assure you that's the cardigan fluff. I think.) and used a wider belt. (What's with the plethora of parentheses and asides in this post?!)

I posted a photo of this dress styled for the weekend on Facebook last weekend. Are you a fan on Facebook?

FYI, since some of you have asked about my dress code at work, so I've added a page that explains more about it.

I'm still a little preoccupied with some things this week, but I'm trying to make the rounds to visit blogs even if I can't comment and hopefully I'll have more to say next week. Unless you're liking these less verbose posts, in which case maybe I should make this the norm. :)

You guys are awesome. You all make me smile every day with your sweet comments and emails, and I'm so grateful for technology to have "met" you. Have a great Thursday, friends!

Today's outfit:
Dress: Wal-Mart
Cardigan: Plato's Closet
Belt: Kohl's (came with a dress)
Heels: Wal-Mart

  3. What a good way to shorten a cardigan! Must remember this for future reference (especially when I go to buy a crop cardigan).

  4. I love the swirly post title! That dress is awesome, but what is more awesome is how you shortened the cardigan! That is a great idea and I will definitely have to give that one a try (when it's not 100 degrees)! The cardigan color is gorgeous and looks great on you.

  6. Melissa, the love handles are only in your head! I see no love handles at all!! I actually love how the whole looks comes together with the shortened cardi.

I'm glad you're starting to feel back to normal!!

I like how the cardigan slightly looks like a top making the dress look like a skirt :)

  11. Not that you didn't do a great job of cropping the cardigan, I think it could have worked it longer - maybe open, with a skinnier belt, maybe a bit higher. Of course, it's hard to tell without seeing it! I put on what i hoped would be a fabulous outfit yesterday, and the length of the skirt made the entire thing look so frumptastic I laughed... and changed.

  12. You look so perty, Melissa. I really like this dress and am impressed with your hiding the cardigan in the belt. I would not have noticed it had you not mentioned it.

  16. You look so pretty! I agree, I think it would have worked longer too. Belted with the white belt. But not to say it doesn't look fine as is. Also what love-handles? You've got a gorgeous shape!
