I'm seriously running out of ideas with my 30 pieces since the weather has gotten so warm. It's going to be in the 80's for as long as our weather predictions show us. It'll get up to 86 one day in the next week, I think. I figured I've worn a skirt as a shirt before so surely it has to be possible with some of my other skirts. I tried this one on and lo and behold, it's not bad!
I threw in the red belt and shoes with the turquoise jewelry just for some fun colors.
Daphne mentioned that larger pictures would be good so that you all can see details better. I'm making them as large as blogger will let me (I've tried them bigger and blogger ends up cutting them off) so this is the best I can do for now. Once I get my new camera (whenever that may be), hopefully the details will be easier to see!
Today's outfit:
Black/White Skirt/Shirt: Salvation ArmyBlack Pants: Charlotte Russe
Black Blazer: Stein Mart
Red Belt: Salvation Army
Red Pumps: From my mom
Turquoise Necklace and Earrings: Beya
Not only is it not bad but I think it looks great!!!Isn't it that when you hit a good creative idea the outfit feels even greater?
ReplyDeleteLove Love Love Love it. Blazers are awesome. you can do so much with them.

ReplyDeleteI love this look Melissa! Using your skirt as a top is a great way to be creative and get more mileage out of your 30x30 outfits.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!!! That skirt is BRILLIANT as a top!
ReplyDeleteAll right, there is no flexing, but I'll take that as your "I'm proud of my upper body" shot! It does look nice and toned!
ReplyDeleteThe skirt as a shirt is one look I haven't tried. I'm already crafting an outfit in my head - also using a blazer... good tip on that one!
What a great idea!!! I'm jealous of your 86 deg. weather. According to our forecast, it might snow here AT SEA LEVEL!! I don't remember it ever being this cold. Me no likey!!!

ReplyDeleteI've always contemplated doing a skirt as a shirt, but never tried. It looks awesome! Way to make two pieces out of one!
ReplyDeletethis was a really smart use of your skirt. This would totally be cute this summer with some bermuda shorts that fit close to the leg and some thong sandals...
ReplyDeleteactually, you are giving me maternity ideas. ;) LOL
Nice remix. Very sassy/sexy! I could see rocking that on date night without the jacket.
ReplyDeleteSo creative, and it looks great too!
ReplyDeleteEverything about this is amazing. You are so flipping creative! I love using things for wardrobe pieces which they weren't necessarily made. That neckline close up shoes how AWESOME your upper body looks, woman. DANG.
ReplyDeletevery nice! using your skirt as a shirt - great way to remix! love the black and white with red and blue! looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteI wish it was warm enough for me to try that! Looks so professional with the blazer, who would've though?!
ReplyDeleteOh and try using Flickr to host your images, it preserves photo quality a lot better for big pictures!
ReplyDeleteThis is brilliant! I love the print on that skirt/top. The red and turquoise accessories are a nice accent, too.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I second Liz - I use Flickr to host all my photos, its been pretty fantastic. Using Picnik to edit my photos is so much easier than photoshopping for me, too.
and - PS Needless to say this Upstate NYer is UUUuber jealous of your weather!!! It was -3 here the other day!
ReplyDeleteAnother one chiming in to say that this worked out so good!! I like the bigger pics too.
ReplyDeleteJenn
Oh, and you can adjust the width of your blog space to accomodate the larger pictures, too. Go to "design", click on "template designer", click on "adjust widths" - I slid my "entire blog" bar to the maximum but I don't think you have to go that far to get the pics to fit.
ReplyDeleteJenn
i love this! how creative! :D
ReplyDeleteso inventive...love the skirt as a shirt...after I saw the first pic my first thought was not office appropriate...but you fixed that!!!
ReplyDeleteLooking great!
I can't believe you're getting temps in the upper 80s..that's so crazy!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE today's look! Skirt as a shirt!? That's brilliant! You never cease to amaze me with your creativity:) I love the solid blazer with the print of the top peaking out underneath, too cute! And you know I love that belt!
I love it! it totally doesn't even look like a skirt! :)
ReplyDeleteHAHA GENIUS!!
ReplyDeleteGirl, you are KILLING it! In a good way, of course. Blazers work miracles, I think, and I'm digging the pops of red and turquoise.
ReplyDeleteWoman! You are a genius! That looks so classy and shows your remixing cleverness! I've done it once but with disappointing results. Must try again!
ReplyDeleteYou are amazing!! If I put a skirt on as a shirt I would look hilarious. But, you - YOU LOOK AMAZING! And, you are right about blazers - they can make almost anything look professional!
ReplyDeleteClassroom Chic
That is so funny- I NEVER would've thought this was a skirt- It looks so natural! :) I really like the bigger pics!
ReplyDeleteI love the skirt as a shirt idea. i may have to see if I can duplicate that myself.
ReplyDeleteYou are brilliant! Love love love it! At first I thought, HOW'S that going to cut it with the dress code...but the blazer is perfect! Love :)
ReplyDeleteThis turned out quite perfect! I love how well this works. The blazer makes it work appropriate, but could be a fun going out look.
ReplyDeleteI found yours via Kendi's blog. You have a gorgeous blog.
ReplyDeleteI like pic #2. The blue statement necklace completes your outfit.
Great idea, to use a skirt as a top.
You are simply amazing with all this creative remixing! I love the color accessories!
ReplyDeleteYou look fabulous! Very clever remixing!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your sweet comments re: my travels. It's nice to know I am not completely boring everyone :)
To answer your question re: my camera. I use a Nikon D50 (old model, not even made any more). What makes a difference is good lenses and lots of light! Good luck with your camera endeavors!
great top choice and your arms look great - they are so toned!

ReplyDeletePerfect! This is one of those day-to-night outfits that I always wish I had the social life for... work all day in your blazer, then slip it off for an instant something-sassy for cocktails after work. Tell me you did that when you were wearing this outfit ;-)
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's an exaggeration to say that you are a genius. I LOVE this idea, and you look fantastic :)
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the skirt as a shirt!! How creative!! I also really like how you added a pop of color with the necklace :)
ReplyDeletewww.thejoyoffashion.blogspot.com
what a wonderful idea! LOVE this look!
ReplyDeletep.s. regarding your previous post on the fbff nominations, I didn't post for similar reasons. I totally agree with you. I hate being left out and don't want to make others feel left out.
I first saw the picture and thought "that looks like her skirt" and then it is. ha.
ReplyDeleteI have not even tried to wear a skirt as a shirt. I don't think it'd work so well. Also 90% of my skirts are pencil skirts and I don't think that would work.
