Daily MelWear: Outfit 12/30

So, there's good news and there's bad news.

The good news is that I'm getting a little more creative on the weekends, since I can't really be as creative at work during the week.

The bad news is that I'm already running out of outfit ideas with my 30 pieces. And frankly, having to do laundry more often is making me a little cranky.

Let's dissect this outfit, shall we? My plans for today included having my car detailed (to remove the ever-alluring fragrance of sour milk - new rule: no milk in mommy's car), then taking my girl to do "arts and craps" (she's 3, she doesn't quite have her "f"s down yet), then going to see Huey Lewis at SeaWorld. So I started with my purple dress that always looks blue but I assure you, it is purple. I layered my striped sweater over it. Then I decided to add another color with the fuchsia tights and figured I'd throw another pattern in there with the black tights on top. Before I left for the concert, I added another pair of cotton black tights underneath the fuchsia ones and I added another black long-sleeved tee under the dress, because the concert was outside and it was supposed to get cold.

Yes, I KNOW this looks like blue and purple, but I assure you that it's purple and fuchsia in person!

Then...we found out the concert was WAY earlier than we'd thought, and we had missed it. So we went to see Just Go With It with Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston instead. Granted, I was a little warm in all those layers indoors, but I felt cute. And the movie was HYSTERICAL! Predictable, of course, but so funny.

And at least I was home early enough to put my girl to bed. I miss not having her every night like I did when we were married, so when I do have her it means a lot for me to kiss her good-night and spend every second I can with her.

  1. I am sorry that the 30 for 30 is causing a problem with laundry. I think you are doing a wonderful job with the challenge! The belt is super cute! I'm getting a head start on thinking about my 3 positive statements. Last Monday it took me a really long time (I think I was also really tired by the end of the day). Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  2. you are so right on the laundry thing - I'm feeling it too! Love the bow belt. I couldn't even come up with 3 things last week - i need to try harder this Monday!

  3. Great job with all the layering! I'm not creative enough to layer more than a cardigan and a tank, so I'm really envious of your layering abilities :) Beautiful use of color and I love the bow belt!

  4. Super Cute outfit. I feel like i'm always washing clothes and thats with out doing 30 of 30.

  5. Super cute!! I love the outfit! And I totally have the same problem with purple's that photograph blue! So I believe you! :) I love the tights too! Sorry you missed the concert, but yay for feeling cute and having fun seeing a movie! I hope the rest of your weekend goes well! :)

  6. Love all the layers. I have a purple sweater that always looks blue in photos too. Wonder that it is about purple.
I wanted to see that movie too. Hope we can get a sitter soon to see it.

  7. You look fab! I love that striped top. I think you're doing a great job so far. I've done so much laundry these past few weeks - It feels crazy.

That particular shade of purple is always so pretty in real life, cameras just can't even see it.

  8. you are really pretty, have i mentioned that before? and great layering!! :)

  9. I love all of the layering...I don't think I could ever do the 30 for 30 challenge...I give you mad credit for pulling it off though!!

  10. Adorable outfit, especially that belt! I understand what you mean about laundry and the 30 for 30, also with the feeling that you're running out of outfits. I felt that stress too, but you have such fabulous accessories and style that I have faith you will come up with awesome outfits for the rest of it.

  11. This is SUCH a flattering look! I LOVE this belt, so cute. Besides the laundry, I don't know if I could do the 30 for 30 so you totally have my respect! :)

  12. Love the layers! I never think about layering tights, but I've seen that look a couple of times now, and it always looks fantastic. It's going on my 'must try' list :)

I've been planning my three things for days now, since I missed the first week!

  13. Love your belt!

My kiddos call me "Miss Bikatowia" because Vs, Rs and the KT is so hard to say. :)

  14. Yayyyy for weekends for you!! What a fun outfit...the stripes and bow belt just make me smile:)

  15. Oh, you mean you're washing your stuff after wearing them.... Hmmm.... :P Great look!

  16. Aw, it's always hard part way through. Here are two hints that got me through last time:
    1. break it down to 10 items and see how you can mix those together. Then a few days later, chose another 10.
    2. It's ok to go with a more simple outfit, and make it interesting with accessories! Let them carry the outfit!

  17. I like the dress under the shirt. I have not tried it yet but will some day.

  18. So if you hear someone creeping in your closet dont worry it's just me stealing that belt. On second thought if you hear someone creeping in your closet def check it out but if its me stealing your belt just let it go :-D Man, I love that belt.

  19. Love the outfit! The stripes are fantastic and I like how you layered the tights. Oh, and that bow belt is super cute!

I have a 3-year old too. They say the funniest stuff, don't they?

    Anyway, you look fabulous.
