This shirt is not really a shirt. If you've been a reader for a while, you might remember that this is actually a skirt. I decided to try wearing it as a shirt a few weeks ago.
Since then I've wanted to find a way to make it office-appropriate. I think throwing a jacket and belt on top worked pretty well!
Although now I'm re-thinking this jacket. It's a little big and might be due for replacement soon.
End result: I like this just as much as a skirt as I do as a shirt. Now I want to find more pieces that can be reinvented like this! I want to go shopping...who's coming?
One more thing: the lovely Hillary of byhillary has joined the Mad Men Casting Call contest. Go vote for her!
Here are a couple of ways that I've worn this skirt before:
Today's outfit:
Shirt/Skirt: Target
Brown Jacket: Kohl's
Brown Pants: Charlotte Russe
Brown Belt: Salvation Army
Brown Studded Heels: Wal-Mart
Pink Necklace/Earrings: Beya
Gorgeous! Did you tuck it into your pants today? I know that's a weird question but just wondering!
ReplyDeletelove ya
Rachel
That's genius! I'm probably going to spend a bit of my day trying to turn skirts into shirts. It totally looks office appropriate, too, with that jacket on.
ReplyDeleteThat top has really turned out to be so versatile for you. Looks great.
ReplyDeleteIt absolutely works! I never would have thought that to be such a versatile piece.
ReplyDeleteI used to take my Mom's tube tops and wear them as skirts when I was a kid...
So awesome you can re-work it into a shirt! That will make the skirt that much more versatile, I love it! And the print is gorgeous. Also love the pop of pink with the jewelry =)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear that P90X will be worth it because my body is crying:) Ok your outfit is adorable. I love the accent that the jewelry gives it!
ReplyDeleteVery creative, I may have to try that.
ReplyDeleteWow, you make this look so office appropriate but really fun too!

Could've fooled me! Very creative!
ReplyDeleteThe top/skirt is very cute.
ReplyDeleteOh, and if you replace the jacket, thats still a GREAT cut for you!! I'd keep that one around as well. :-)
oh that's great how you are getting so much use out of the skirt. I would never of thought to try as top.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the plug!
Rach - I did tuck it in...but it's a lot of material. I think my goal is to find a longer cardigan to match the length of the "shirt" so I can leave it untucked.
ReplyDeleteFrances - You are SO flattering! :) I can't wait to see what you come up with!
Jessica - Thank you! I'm glad to be able to get so much milage out of it.
Andrea - Thanks! Now you can take some of your OWN tube tops and wear them as skirts. :) Try it!
ShyGirl - I do love the versatility of it! The pink makes me happy, but now I need to find something else to try...maybe yellow. Or bright purple.
Sarah - Thanks! Keep up with P90! You will absolutely love yourself for doing it!
Keisha - I think you SHOULD try it! I'm sure you'll make it look fantastic!
Rad - Thank you! That's a great compliment, sometimes I wonder if I missed the mark on the professionalism of my outfits.
Tricia - Thanks! :)
Megan - Your blog has given me lots of fun remixing ideas. Thanks!
Diya - Thank you! It's hard for me to not make outfits too casual. Thanks for the compliment!
Liz - Yay! I'm glad I could have fooled someone! Thanks!
Bianca - Thank you! It seems to be a silhouette that I choose often. Glad it works, otherwise I'd be at a loss for a lot of my looks! :)
Hillary - You are MORE than welcome, doll! Hope you win! And that reminds me, I need to go vote again for today.
I love these slacks on you! Great fashion inspiration for me, as I would like to wear slacks more often :)
ReplyDeleteJennifer: I used to wear slacks ALL the time. I rarely ever wore dresses or skirts, thought they were too girly. Now I'm liking them more and more. But slacks still have a soft spot in my heart and so I wear them a lot! :)
