Daily MelWear: Outfit 1/30

I will say that doing the 30 For 30 Challenge makes naming my posts that much easier.

While the rest of the country is bracing for snowstorms, our high today is 79.

I guess I should've checked the weather before picking my 30 pieces. I do have a few short-sleeved items which will be good because tomorrow's high is 82.

Good grief, where is winter? I do love living in Florida because the cold and I are not friends, but I enjoy being able to wear tights and a scarf without breaking a sweat. Not gonna happen in these temperatures. I'm even bare-legged today.

I'm glad for some of my layering pieces being short-sleeved. And I know what you're thinking: "But Melissa, that purple camisole isn't in your 30!" Maybe that's not what you're thinking and you wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't said anything. But we're all friends and I'm just trying to be honest. I think camisoles are considered accessories and aren't counted in the 30. Originally this one wasn't going to be part of the outfit but then the cowl neck of the sweater started to flip and dip. I knew that wouldn't be appreciated at work, so the cami was added for modesty.

So, outfit 1 of 30 done! 29 more to go! I hope it doesn't stay this warm...

Today's outfit:
Black/White Skirt: Salvation Army
Black Sweater: Plato's Closet
Purple Belt: Charlotte Russe
Purple Cami: Charlotte Russe
Black Pumps: Target
Black Flower Ring: Charlotte Russe

  1. Love the outfit. Cami are accessories. Trust me I asked b/c this girl lives in them. Kendi said she think as them as underwear's. Which I call my Cami undershirt most of the time.

  3. I consider camis underwear, too. They're just necessary sometimes!

I love the purple accents in this outfit. And I will most definitely be on the lookout for a purple belt, now...once I can start shopping again, of course :)

  4. The skirt shows nicely with the black top and the camis make the outfit all the more interesting!

  5. You are off to a great start! And camis shouldn't count as part of the 30---they are basically undergarments!

  6. cute cute look! I found that doing the 30-for-30 challenge not only makes blog titles easire, it makes getting dressed in the morning easier too!

  7. Great job on day 1! Sometimes I miss Florida and living there on really cold days but I love fall and spring so it's worth it! You look beautiful today!

  8. Wow, your winter is hotter than my summer :)

  9. Youi look good today. I like the purple accents!!! You are fine with the cami - because they are basically underwear anyway!!! And I looove that belt!!!

  10. oh man, I would do anything for temperatures in the 70s and 80s! I am NOT one of those people who appreciates winter - I HATE it!

  11. i love the little bit of purple peeking out. so cute!
and i'm NOT including the 3 undershirts that i use pretty much every day in my count. i agree that they are total necessities.

  12. Love the skirt! Cami's shouldn't count because you have to prevent sneaky cleavage or get reprimanded/ogled at work!
Also am very jealous of your weather. With the very significant wind chill last night it was -47C (-52.6F) last night. Too cold to do much of anything really...

  13. The 70s sound just fine to me. I love this first outfit - very classic and chic.

  14. You look great Melissa...I am rally looking forward to seeing how you take on the 30 for 30 challenge!

  15. I don't consider camisoles part of my 30 for 30 either. Sometimes I gotta make sure the girls aren't going to be on display. That makes them a must in my book. :)

I laughed over the 30 for 30 making post titles easier. The same thought ran through my head.

  16. I like the purple under the darker shirt because I have trouble turning darker pieces like that skirt into something with a little color. This is good inspiration for me! I don't think camis count either.

  17. I love seeing different colors combined with black/white and this is a great example! The lace detail is such a sweet little touch. Love it, as usual.

  18. I've always loved purple with black and white. Awesome first outfit! :)

  19. Melissa, thanks, you look cute, too! I pretty much always wear a camisole with my tops and dresses (I think modern retailers just don't get the modesty factor). And I haven't eaten any of those things...yet.

  20. Great start on the 30 x 30! I'm totally going to make use of camisoles as undershirts in my outfits too.

I love your color combo here and the skirt pattern is awesome.

  21. This is a really cute outfit! When I did 30 for 30 in the fall (I didn't do it this time because I feel like I just ended the last challenge!), I didn't consider camis as part of my items either. And 79 degrees sounds amazing right now...I'm so sick of ice and snow!

  22. Love your skirt. You always have very beautiful smile.

  25. Great start to your 30x30. I think of camis like underwear, so they're definitely not considered part of the 30x30 in my mind. I can't wait to see what you come up with for outfits!

  28. Camis are TOTALLY not included in the 30! :) You look fabulous. Love your makeup and the splashes of purple. It's unseasonably warm here, too. I'm SO uber jealous of the snow.

  29. Love the lace peeking out of the sweater...I am not counting cami or tank tops either, I wear one under almost everything!

  32. I'm so jealous of your bare legs! I considered not wearing tights today but I probably would have frozen!

  33. Great outfit! I always consider camis loop holes, but the best loop holes! They allow you to add a pop of colour without being an item!!

  34. Such a cute outfit, from the start it looks like you picked some real versatile pieces. And you better enjoy that 80 degree weather, because it's currently ice-storming in ny! And it is GROSS.

I 've been wanting to get new clothes but also need to save $$... so I'm inspired by you to rework my pieces in the closet! Looking forward to your other outfits!

  41. I mean you added it for modesty so that is a necessity and is not breaking the rules in my opinion. What a pretty skirt.

  42. I love your take on the challenge. easy titles to posts. That's a great skirt.

  44. I love this outfit, I think it's a good start!

  45. Jessy - I usually shop in store for the same reason, I just can't wait to have it! I've only purchased one thing online, it was a Target Daily Deal. My favorites are Target, Charlotte Russe, Ross, Plato's Closet, things like that. :) Plus I don't like the stress of whether or not something will fit and what if I have to return it and all that. :)

  46. I adore that skirt. And the touch of purple lace is so sweet and a wonderful jolt of color. I love this look! Great start to 30 for 30!

  47. Love the skirt and how you coordinate with your belt. I'm jealous of your ability to style belts. I still have issues with mine.
