Daily MelWear: Royal Purple

Well Happy Return-To-Work-After-Christmas Week!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas holiday weekend. I certainly did! Christmas Eve was spent at my aunt's house with my mom's side of the family, watching my girl play with her cousins and we even had a surprise visit from Santa!!! THAT was fun to watch.

Christmas day was at our house, with my parents, brother & sister-in-law & their baby boy, Princess Girl, her dad and his father and my grandmother. It was a really nice day!

On Sunday The Princess went with her dad to visit his mom and then over to his dad's house. Through the miracle of FaceTime on the iPhone 4, I was able to watch her open her gifts! Then I spent the day cleaning out her room and doing laundry. It feels so much better to have all of that done now!

Now we're back at work! *Sigh* At least I really do enjoy my new job, so that makes it a lot easier!

Oh hey, did you see my post on Favorite Holiday Outfits? You didn't? Well click here and go see all the gorgeous pictures of my lovely readers!

And now I have a very, very serious question to ask you. I really need everyone to put some thought into this and not just blurt out the first answer that comes to mind.

Here's my question: is the correct term headband or hairband? Because I see headband a lot but I also say hairband a lot, too.

These are the kinds of things that keep me up at night, people.

Have a great day!

Today's outfit:
Purple Long-Sleeved Tee: Target
Black Cowl-Neck: Plato's Closet
Purple Belt: Charlotte Russe
Black Pants: Charlotte Russe
Black Boots: Payless
Headband/Hairband???: Gift from my parents!

  1. Headband: the thing you wear on your head. Hairband: Motley Crue. At least that's how I've always thought it was.

  2. I always say headband for the thing that you wear on your whole head to keep your hair pushed back and hairband for the things that make ponytails. :)

By the way - love the purple!

  3. I say headband. I use hairband to refer to the elastic rubberband I use to put my hair in a ponytail.

Hope you had a great holiday!!!

  4. I love the purple and black combo, and that purple belt is great! I say headband. I use the term hairband for the big stretchy cotton things or for elastics used for ponytails.

I'm glad you had a good Christmas!

  5. Great back to work outfit! I always say headband. To me hairband means either a ponytail elastic or the big stretchy elastic you put around your head to hold your frizzy hair back at the gym, not a pretty accessory.

  6. I believe a headband is a decorative band worn around your like what you are wearing. A hairband, on the other...hand, is what you use to hold a ponytail...which can also be called a ponytailer, a rubber band, a hair elastic, etc, etc, etc...

What a confusing world we live in, no?

  7. I always call it a headband. You sound like you had a great Christmas.

  8. i've never used the word hair band, so my vote is the correct word is headband! sounds like Christmas was joyful! Happy Holidays!

  9. Glad to hear that you had a good Christmas. I always say headband, maybe it's a regional thing?
I love the pairing of the purple and black. You look so chic :)

  10. Hey, Santa must have been busy traveling all over FL on Christmas day! He stopped by my in-laws, too ;)

As for the headband/hairband conundrum: I always consider headbands the ones that go around your head, and hairbands the elastics that you use for ponytails. That's just my 2 cents.

  11. Headband...
Love all the layers you have going on today. I am glad you had a wonderful Christmas with the princess!

  12. Sounds like you had a merry Christmas! :)

I say headband for the thing you wear on your head that keeps bangs back.

Hairband is what I call a ponytail holder.

  13. Cynthia's definition is my absolute favorite - I can't stop cracking up!

Glad you had a fabulous Christmas, Melissa - hope you have a fabulous rest of the week, or egads, year!

  14. i say headband!

cute outfit, love the pop of purple!

  15. Headband. A hairband is from the 80s. Sounds like you had a lovely Christmas. You look so cute! I love your hair like that.

  16. I've gotten so behind, but I'm finally trying to get caught up. I LOVE your outfit! The purple is fabulous!! It sounds like you guys had a great Christmas too!! Yay!! And I love your headband! I get confused on terms sometimes too! (Heh, I usually just use whatever term the blogger used if I'm in doubt on a comment... but I love Megan's answer... a hairband is definitely from the 80's! ;) )
