Daily MelWear: Gray, Yellow and Blue

It is becoming increasingly more obvious to me that I just don't have the shirt wardrobe to wear pants very often. This week is hard! Most of my tops are plain tees. I don't have a lot of fun blouses or nice tops. They're all really pretty boring.

So this one is a double whammy out-of-my-comfort-zone: pants AND LOOK! No belt!!!

I think I need to go lie down.

Today's outfit:

Blue Zebra Cardigan: Wal-Mart
Yellow Tank: Plato's Closet

Gray Slacks: Forever 21

Gray/Black Heels: Target (Isaac Mizrahi from years ago!)

Black Necklace: Wal-Mart

  3. Great outfit! The yellow is nice underneath the cardigan. I loved it when Target had that line of Isaac Mizrahi shoes, especially because they came in my size. Looks like your challenge is going well, and you inspired my post today.

  4. I used to find that I only had lots of Ts to wear with pants, but then I started buying simple, neutral colored blouses and would pair them with cardigans to make work-appropriate outfits. The plus was that the blouses could all be paired with skirts for a more dressy or fun look. Try washable, sleeveless, solid colored (cream is my fave) blouses for the most versatility. :)
    And the pants are winners!

  5. I know what you mean--I went through a whole period where I strayed from patterns to by "mix and match" solids, but you have to find some other way to dress them up. I do it with my accessories a lot!

  6. So cute, I can't believe that cardi is from Walmart. The gray slacks look great on you, I am in the market for new pants too so I'll start trolling on F21 and see if I can find something similar to the ones you are wearing. :)

  7. Layering a jacket or cardigan with bright colored tee & pants is actually my favorite way of wearing pants so I love what you're doing with your pants right now.
OT: In answer to your comment, shortened cervix. Bedrest or else pre-term labor & NICU. I choose bedrest

  8. Even without a belt, that cardigan draws a lot of attention so no one really notice the lack of the belt. You always find good looking clothes at Walmart. I wish I were a standard size woman, finding clothes wouldn't be this hard.

  9. You look amazing! And look, even though you don't have on a staple dress/skirt or your signature belted look, you DO have on your yellow. :)

    Always being Melissa. Phew!

  10. I have a similar issue with shirts - so now for every time I make any clothing purchase, I have to accompany it with a shirt that isn't a basic, solid colour tee! It's good for the wardrobe, but bad for the budget!

  12. You're doing so well in your challenge! I think you look amazing, and I love that you only buttoned a few buttons, you don't even need a belt because the shape is so wonderful! And I looove the zebra stripes :)

I know what you mean, thinking you don't have a lot of options to wear with pants but you can always wear fun accessories to dress up plain tees!

  16. I love that cardigan - there's nothing like having one piece that brings print and color to a look! I love how you paired it with yellow, too, and those amazing shoes.

  17. You are rocking those pants! I love the cardi. It does a great job of showing your shape, no need for a belt.

I feel the same way about blouses. I love pants and skirts and have some great ones but I never find "interesting" tops.

I really love the variety that Trouser Week is adding to your posts.

  25. Thanks everyone! This definitely was not my favorite outfit, but I will say that those pants are the only ones that are seriously comfortable. I do like this pair!

And YES - Wal-Mart has some great pieces sometimes! Definitely check them out, especially clearance stuff, when you're there!
