How's your week going so far? Part of me is glad that we're almost to Friday, the other part of me feels like time is moving way too fast.
I've really been wanting to wear scarves more often but I'm a complete novice with them. I only have a couple of lightweight scarves that are wearable in Florida right now; the rest are a little too heavy for the heat. So this is one of my attempts at wearing a scarf. I kind of like it but it doesn't stay put very well, I'm constantly tucking and readjusting. Practice, practice, practice.
So HEY - guess what?! ML from Twenty York Street is going to sponsor some Blogging for Breast Cancer aWEARness giveaways! She's sending me some pieces in the mail, two of which are duplicates of things that I own and have worn on the blog. I am SO excited!
Let's take a poll - if you could win any kind of giveaway, what would you want to win? A purse, a scarf, a piece of jewelry, a piece of clothing, a gift card, something else? What's your favorite giveaway item?
Brown Blazer: Kohl's
Brown Slacks: Charlotte Russe
Pink Tee: TargetBrown/Cream Zebra Scarf: From my mom - I think she got it at Big Lots, actually!
Pink Belt: Salvation Army
Brown Studded Heels: Wal-Mart
Pink Earrings: Wal-Mart
Judging by this picture, I think you're an old pro at wearing scarves. Rookie? I don't think so, lady! The layered effect here adds the perfect amount of interest and contrast. And I'm glad that you noted in the outfit details that your pieces are actually brown -- I assumed they were black. But brown and pink is such a great combo!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that Twenty York Street is sponsoring a giveaway! Hmm...I think jewelry is my favorite giveaway item. I tend to have a very definitive jewelry style, so I'd like the chance to win something that I might not otherwise pick out for myself.
Morning girl! I just bought a ton of scarves at the thrift store yesterday cuz I too want to give them a try. I love your outfit! You seem to have mastered putting pink into your outfits!
ReplyDeleteHow cool that Twenty York Street is sponsoring a giveaway! She's so sweet! If I could win anything I'd want to win a gift card.
Hugs,

Your mom has great eyes for fashion, Melissa! That scarf is so gorgeous and it completes the whole look. Make your outfit look so sophisticated.
ReplyDeleteYou look cute in that scarf/suit combo! :)
ReplyDeleteand hmmmm giveaways- i like giftcards, accessories, and jewelry
I love what you're doing with that scarf. So chic!
ReplyDeleteLove ML! She's such a sweetie! I think my favorite giveaways have been scarf/jewelry related, but at this point in my life, I'm leaning towards gift cards.
It took my sleepy morning eyes a while to find the scarf - it's so seamlessly added to the outfit!
ReplyDeleteAs for give aways, everything but clothing is generally good. With clothing, there's the issue of fit, and then if it doesn't fit, there is the guilt of going back to the donor and being like : "I can't wear this, I"m sorry".
Lovely outfit! I'm a novice at the whole scarf thing as well. I only allow myself to buy scarves from the thrift store so I'm not wasting a ton of money if they go unworn.
ReplyDeleteAs for giveaways, I like gift cards or any kind of accessories!
love scarfs...they cab do so much for an outfit...
ReplyDeleteThe the pop of color with the pink belt.
I think the scarf works for you!! I love scarves myself, and will even tie them on handbags for a little something extra!
ReplyDeleteoooh, love this outfit! I think you fashioned the scarf perfectly!
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorites on you for this challenge.
And I would be happy with any sort of giveaway.
Love the zebra scarf!
ReplyDeleteI'd probably go for a scarf or a giftcard for giveaways.
I LOVE this scarf, and your pink! You look awesome. :) I don't know how to wear scarves, either. I'm wearing a ribbon. :)
ReplyDeleteFabulous look today. I love all your layers!
ReplyDeleteThanks again for being so sweet. Coffee would have been great :)
I think your scarf looks great! I think anything for a giveaway is GREAT!!!
ReplyDeletelove that scarf. .and your bright smile too :)
ReplyDeleteYou look great! I have such a hard time with scarves... I tend to just drape them around my neck and hope it looks good. Recently, though, I stumbled across this website http://www.scarves.net/how-to-tie-a-scarf/
ReplyDeleteI think this will be my go-to site for how to tie scarves!
I love brown and pink together! Beautiful combination! And I absolutely adore the zebra print scarf. Every item in the outfit goes together so well!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful outfit! I love the scarf--I can't believe it is from Big Lots!
ReplyDeleteYour scarf goes so well with the outfit I too didn't see it at first. I find scarves perplexing and never know how to wear them. Kimberly at fab finds always comes up with great scarf ideas.
ReplyDeleteBig Lots scarf? It's amazing. What a creative way to wear a scarf.
ReplyDeleteWell done by your efforts of wearing pink everyday, amazing!
ReplyDeleteLove your outift. I always think pink is such a great colour for adding a little bit of bright to an outfit. I love wearing scarves but often find myself abandoning them half way through the day as they start to get on my nerves. You scarf looks great.
Super cute! And I love the scarf, it looks wonderful! The pants are great too! And the sponsorship is really cool!! I don't normally enter giveaways, but all those sound really great! I might avoid an article of clothing though since sizing really can be an issue, but they all sound great! I hope you have a great weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteI usually just throw a scarf on when it's cold.. I don't wear them much otherwise. But, I think a good place to start is tying them to bags x

I love that zebra print! I didn't realize it was a scarf at first either - it looks great with the brown & pink combo!
ReplyDeleteThis week has seemed fast to me, too, but yay it's now Friday!
I can never find cute belts at our thrift stores! And you keep finding cute ones! I love the scarf, too. I think it looks great!
ReplyDeleteI vote scarf!!
ReplyDeleteI tried to find a link for you about scarves. I used to be at a complete loss when it came to wearing scarves until I happened upon academichic.com
They had a whole tutorial on how to wear scarves. I tried to find the specific posts but I'm watching my neighbor's 22 month old so I don't have much down time right now. I hope that helps some :)
I Love this Outfit.

You look super cute! How nice of them to sponsor a giveaway and my vote is for jewelry.
ReplyDeleteBrown and pink is such a great color combo and def not worn for ladies often enough. You look so chic as always, Melissa. Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteThat scarf completes the outfit nicely. And giveaways hmm..... perhaps some jewellery or a scarf.
ReplyDeleteRocking the animal print!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your scarf. We're in the same boat - I'm a total scarf novice too. I always gravitate towards them, especially in thrift stores where they're so cheap, but then I get them home and have no idea what to do with them!
ReplyDeleteAs for your poll - i usually like gift card giveaways. A lot of times I'm deterred from entering a giveaway if I don't like the item up for grabs. Gift cards are always a safe bet!
Hi Sweetie!
ReplyDeleteI am putting the finishing touches on your package tonight and I'm heading over to the post office tomorrow!
It seems like your readers will definitely have lots of fun with these give-away(S!!!) as there are tons to choose from!
besos,

Wonderful! I love how you layered the scarf inside this jacket. I wear scarves all the time but am really not that adventurous when I layer them. The zebra print is beautiful with the pink and brown.
ReplyDeleteI love what you're doing for breast cancer awareness month! So inspiring. My MIL is a breast cancer survivor, so it's something that's really close to our hearts :)
ReplyDeleteCute work outfit!
