Daily MelWear: It Takes Two, Baby!

Two belts are better than one, right?

I decided to wear this dress today for the sole reason that it's new and I haven't worn it yet. Otherwise, no real purpose.

It's a blank canvas, being a black shirtdress and all. I was wracking my brain all morning during my workout (AFTER watching a roach crawl under my bedroom door then back behind some things where I couldn't kill it; needless to say, when it was time for floor exercises, I turned off the DVD and ended the workout right there) and while I was getting ready, trying to come up with some way to wear this differently (cardigan, blazer, shirt, scarf, something), when I decided that I also wanted to add in some extra color.

Enter: BELTS. Clearly, belts make me happy. It's a rare day when I don't wear one. I bought these two at Target and figured since I like the colors together and they're similar widths/styles, they'd probably work together.

I can't say I'm ecstatic over this, but for a day when I'm going to be processing payments for board members and typing meeting minutes, it works.

What do you think, would you ever wear more than one belt?

Now that it's Wednesday and the week is half over, how has your week been going? What's been the highlight of your week so far?

Today's outfit:
Black Shirtdress: Ross
Teal and Orange Belts: Target
Black Sandals: Beall's

  1. I've never tried it but I think it's very interesting! That roach story has got me all creepy crawly UGH - I would have done the same as you! As another thought you could try a scarf as a belt too!

  2. Look at you, getting all creative :) I agree, those colors look great together, especially against the backdrop of the black dress.

And you should probably know that I am writing this with my feet up and off of the floor, in case your little friend somehow finds his way through my computer and into my office. Yuck!

  3. Never would have though to try two belts, but it's really cute. Those colors look really good against the black. You look adorable as usual!

  4. I've thought about it, but I haven't yet tried it. I love the color combination and I'm a sucker for a black shirtdress, so I love this look. The highlight of my week may have been blowing off translations last night after working for ten hours and relaxing with some tv online. So. Nice.

  6. Cute, as usual! I would've never thought to use two belts, but you are pulling it off, oh, so well! The highlight of my week was planning for our upcoming Ladies Night Out and VBS events. It's going to be a great summer!

  7. I don't know if I would have the nerve to wear 2 belts, but the way you have done it with the 2 skinny ones works really well here!

  8. I am just getting used to ONE belt and now you are throwing me a TWO BELT curve. *EEEK* But...it looks pretty darn good on you with the little dress. Maybe....after more experimenting with belts and such, I might think about trying this one day. I do like the spring-y colors together, though, for sure.

The highlight of my week??? Hmmmm Good question. Sunday I had all the laundry done. But that was Sunday and this is now Wednesday. I am thinking that the highlight of my week thus far has been that we were predicted thunderstorms and clouds but we have had sunshine and sprinkles. :)

  9. Omg Yes! This is so cool. I want to steal this idea but I do not own two complementary belts or two matching.

The highlight of the week has been finally getting the Hubs into a suit. So fancy!

  10. This looks cute on you, but I don't know that I could pull it off!

and my favorite way to make a black dress have some "pop" is to pair it with tan shoes & a belt and some fun accessories. :)

  11. I've never done the double belt thing, mostly because I'm always fussing with my belt when it's only one - I'd be a mess in a dress with two belts!

I love how you added the teal and orange to the black dress....maybe next time try some black and white polka dots? Or stripes?

  15. I like the colors but I don't think I could wear two at once. I actually own the teal one and it's one of my favorites in the skinny category.

  18. I have never tried it but it looks totally fab on you. I too have a short-sleeved black shirtdress - maybe I'll rock it with dual belts in homage to you!

  19. I love the two-belt look, but ever since I had Rowena, my hips are out of control! You've inspired me to try again though!
