Daily MelWear: A New Beginning

You guys.

I GOT THE JOB!!!

I think by now most of you already know because of Facebook and Twitter, but just in case you don't keep in touch through those, now you know.

I am SO excited! So relieved!

If I haven't said it before, I'm saying it now: God is AWESOME. I could bore you with the details of how this entire thing played out, but I'm not going to. Suffice it to say that this was definitely orchestrated by God and everything worked out like a miracle for everyone involved.

I'll stay in my current position next week (when we move into the new building) and then on the 22nd, I'll technically be in my new position but will go between the two just that first week.

I keep my pay rate, I keep my benefits, I keep my accrued vacation time and accrual rate and most importantly, I keep my Fridays off with my girl!!!

I miss my girl. I'll get to see her again tomorrow. I can't wait. (I know, I have to wait so clearly I can - just work with me here.)

Oh yeah, I'll probably get to wear open-toe shoes there, too. It's a smaller, more secluded department so I think they're slightly more lenient. YAY!

Now for today's outfit. Perhaps I should have labeled this post "Simplicity" because really, how much simpler (and more boring) does it get? A black dress, throw on a cardigan, belt, heels and walk out the door. Done. At least I'm comfy, though. Someone hand me a pillow so I can take a nap now.

Today's outfit:
Black Dress: Plato's Closet
Blue Zebra Cardigan: Wal-Mart
Black Mary Janes: Wal-Mart
Necklace: Gift from ML

  1. Melissa I'm sooo happy for you, I know how
hard it is to find a job these days specially with
a decent pay and schedule, this has been my
problem and that's why I'm still unemployed.
    Good Luck and God Bless!

  6. That is so fabulous! I'm so glad that things are working out for you!

As for the outfit, simple, yes, boring, no! After all, the belt itself is not something many women would necessarily do, or even think of doing. Secondly, you went with a printed coloured cardigan, rather than, say, black. Third, you've got the necklace, and hey, 90% of the time I might pick out a necklace, I just forget to put it on before I dash out the door. Even the maryjane styling of your pumps adds a little detail!

I don't know where your fashion journey started, but sometimes when I'm down on an outfit I think back to what I used to wear. In fact, the other day, someone said they loved they way I mixed colours, and my thought was: "What? I'm afraid of colour, I'd never mix them!" only to realize how far I'd come! Hope it's the same thing for you!

I love black dresses for how easy they are. But I think the cardigan you're wearing is far from boring.

  21. Did you ever think if God was so awesome you wouldn't have been put into this situation in the first place and needed to get a different job?

Don't get me wrong I am very happy for you and it is great you were able to find a job with such ease given the current economic times.

  22. Anonymous: I've had a lot of issues with my current position. I've been very unhappy and felt like I was stuck because of certain factors. I think this was God getting me out of that situation and into a healthier environment.

If I don't praise Him for the good things, I have zero right to make him responsible for the bad things either. And sometimes what I think is bad (a job loss, in this case) ends up being a blessing once I see the resolution. I know what I think and what I want, but he always has better things than I can imagine for me.
