Daily MelWear: In the Garden

Whew!  Today's outfit feels much more like ME.

Thank you SO much to all of you that left comments, validations and suggestions on yesterday's post.  I appreciate every single one of them and am filing the suggestions away for future outfits! Thank you!

After feeling so meh yesterday, I decided to wear something girly today.  I really like this skirt and have so many outfit ideas in mind for it.

Even though it doesn't have any green in it I figured with the flowers, the green shirt works.  Added a brown belt, brown studded heels, and yay! I feel much better now. My next plan with this skirt is to style it for a more casual environment.

Last night my husband and I took our daughter to Wal-Mart for a couple of things and then to dinner at an old-new Mexican restaurant (old because it's been there for years, new because we've never gone before).  It was such a fun night!  Usually on work nights we come home, have dinner, spend a little time with our girl and then it's bedtime.  What a nice change of pace to have dinner out and do a little bit of shopping on a weeknight!

What's your usual weeknight routine? Does it make you feel refreshed to do something different on a weeknight or does it make you feel "off"?

Today's outfit:

Green Blouse: Kohl's

Floral Skirt: Plato's Closet

Brown Belt: Salvation Army

Brown Studded Heels: Wal-Mart

Pink Necklace/Earrings: Beya

  1. I definitely think the green works with the floral skirt. This is a beautiful outfit.
My usual weeknight routine is eating dinner on the couch with my husband, watching Mad Men on On Demand. If it's Tuesday, we go to team trivia with our friends.

  2. Ugh, I am such a homebody on "schoolnights", so it definitely a nice change of pace to go out for dinner or do something different every once in a while. The BF and I have recently started "treating" ourselves after dinner by going to get some froyo - makes us feel like kids for some reason!

I love the deep green with the pinks - such a natural combo (i.e., hello flowers!) but not worn often enough, I think. You look great!

  4. I am amazed at how well the green top works with the pink floral skirt. Don't know why I never thought of that combo before, since it is seen in nature all the time. But it looks smashing on you! Lovely.

  5. This is such a great way to wear green and pink. I think people tend to do bright green and pale pink (kinda Lilly Pulitzer-ish), but this is so much more polished and classic, at least in my opinion : ). This outfit is just stunning.

My weeknight routines are usually pretty standard. But every once in a while, my BF and I walk to our favorite gelato place...such a treat!

  6. I LOVE the green with the purple floral. The green definitely dresses down the floral but still has an edgy flare.

  8. JoAnn - thanks! I keep hearing about Mad Men but I've never watched an episode. Maybe that's something my husband and I can get caught up on with Netflix.

Lisa - thank you! That's exactly what I figured, there's no green in the skirt but hey, God put green with flowers so I can too! :) Froyo is AWESOME, I'm really glad more of these places are popping up everywhere!

jesse.anne.o - thank you! It makes me smile.

Katy - thanks! I'm trying to glean inspiration from more places, rather than only fashion blogs, and nature is something I tend to take for granted so I wanted to go with that. :)

Jamie - thank you! I was going for polished. And I'm so jealous that you have a gelato place within walking distance! Gah!

Danielle - thanks! I love the edginess of the green.

Kirsty - me too! Thank you!

ShyGirl - thank you! The colors made me very happy all day yesterday1

  10. I have been on the search for a floral skirt, but still haven't find one O_o. I would like to find one to pair with some of the lace tops I have. My friend has the same green blouse, and she loves it :).

  12. Sara - thank you! It IS really fun and bright! It makes me happy.

Sydney - your comment made me think of a lace shirt that I saw at Target today. I totally should have bought it to wear with this skirt. Darn! Wish I'd seen your comment before my Target run! :)

Brittany - why thank you! It's so much fun to try and come up with new ways to wear my same old clothes. I love your blog!
