For a while I've been considering adding a new feature to A Working Mom's Closet of interviewing other bloggers to spread the love in the internetz. If the comments on yesterday's post are any indication, there is a HUGE variance among bloggers regarding what is appropriate, what is professional, and what is acceptable. I'd like to take these two things and combine them, interviewing bloggers whose lifestyles and/or careers call for professional attire at some time or another (even stay-at-home moms sometimes need to dress professionally, so this feature doesn't exclude anyone or any type of blogger). I want to hear what they think is appropriate, what restrictions they have (if any) in what they may wear, and I want to see their professional outfits.
What I need from all of YOU are suggestions for bloggers to interview! I know there are many of you out there that showcase professional outfits and I'm sure there are plenty more that I'm not aware of yet, not to mention those who don't really showcase those types of outfits but wear them...and I'm sure have opinions about professional attire as well! This is a great opportunity for me to find some new blogs, gain some additional professional inspiration and for me to share all of that with you!
To suggest a blogger, you can either send me an email at aworkingmomscloset at gmail.com or leave the link in the comments - and suggest yourself if you have some professional outfits and would like to be featured!
I'm excited about this!!!
And since today is jeans day in the office, I'm wearing jeans and SANDALS since I have some closed toe flats to slip on if anyone makes a surprise visit to our office. This top is another from my aunt, it's a petite small but still a little big (if the sleeve length is any indication!). Per my usual, I belted it! Belts make me happy. Very, very happy.
Hope you all have a great day and leave some comments to suggest yourself and/or other bloggers! Whee!
Today's outfit:
Jeans: Kohl's
Purple Top: From my aunt
Gold Belt: Charlotte Russe
Black Sandals: Beall's
Gold Necklace: Gift from ML
Cute Outfit and I love this idea.

I would love to participate. I also love the blue top (I am not wearing that same color today, no!). And, suddenly your sandals seem so risque! J/K
ReplyDeleteThat blue top is really cute. Sometimes I look professional!
ReplyDeleteOnce upon a time, I tried to implement a dress code in my office, so I can pull that up if you'd like!
ReplyDeleteIs it my imagination or are the bangs new? Different? I've been trying to remember these last couple days!
And those are some fabulous jeans!
This is a really cute...jeans day look....and those sandals are great!! Have you seen The Daybook? I have seen some youthful trendy professional looks on her site. I am always available to add the "seasoned" woman's opinion if you need it!!
ReplyDeleteYou look so cute! I love the top and the swoopy sleeves. Purple is a fantastic color on you.
ReplyDeleteYay for casual Thursday! Sometimes jeans are like a warm, friendly hug. Ok, weird I know! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of interviewing women on their professional clothing choices and options. I especially like the idea of women who don't work in a traditional "corporate" environment (like me) and have a lot of flexibility (but also responsibility) when it comes to dressing for work.
I like this idea of guest bloggers who know their professional wear. I think it fits with modest styling, too. It's especially hard to do both when it gets hot outside (as it soon will in Fresno). Looking forward to seeing this feature more! :)
ReplyDeleteSuper cute!! I really like how that top fits and the wide leg jeans are really great! Ooh, and the interview idea sounds really cool, and definitely a way to get some ideas about how different people think about professional office wear. Good luck! Oh, and the outfit is really cute!! :)
ReplyDeleteI think that's a great idea! you could always choose someone out of your blogroll once a week or something! :)
ReplyDeletewhat a great look, the top and belt match well!

First off, that color is gorgeous on you! I love your interview idea....I would love to hear other ladies opinions about what is appropriate for work...let me know if you need a teacher's point of view, I would love to participate!
ReplyDeleteLove the colour of that top! And I'm excited to see how this idea and interviews go!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all you look amazing, as you always do.
ReplyDeleteI'd be happy to share some of my outfits, you can find them on my blog: http://knitteachride.blogspot.com, all the pictures link to my flickr account so feel free to peruse. My work doesn't necessarily have a dress code, but since I work in a public high school there are certainly expectations about how you dress (especially as a young woman who could possibly be mistaken for a student . . .)
Cute top! Jean Days are great. The interview idea is a great one and look forward to seeing what others think! I probably dress for work more on the conservtive side since I work with high schoolers I would be willing to help out.
ReplyDeleteI think that would be interesting. I don't know many bloggers but I love reading about other people out there and the professional attire spin is a good one.
ReplyDeleteSo on to the outfit, the best part. :) I love this outfit. The jeans rock and the belt at your natural waist is so well done.
those jeans look great on you. I love the idea of interviewing other bloggers to get to know new people and there views on things including office attire...especially since I am going to back to work full time soon!
ReplyDeletegreat idea. i always love to see what others wear
ReplyDeleteI love this blouse on you! I love the looser fit but that we can also still see your fabulous figure with the belt! I'm right there with you with belts..everything is better belted! And those shoes are hot hot hot, love them!!
ReplyDeleteI love your idea! I am not in a professional career myself but I'm always interested in learning about professional, office appropriate styles and peoples different opinions about it so I think it's a great idea :)
great idea! blog is looking great! I can give an opinion for the "40" something crowd! I work in a corporate office and I dress up every Sunday for "work" as a preacher's wife! heehee
ReplyDeletePS the new layout is stellar! I even said wow out loud!!
ReplyDeleteYou look great - I love the little belt!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could be in sandals, but March is really still winter this far north - it's -9C (16F) here today.
Great outfit! I love how chic and flowy it looks. I have a whole list of professional and style bloggers on my blogroll, although they do tend toward the corporate/office side. I'd be glad to help out, too! :)
ReplyDeleteCute top! Love the new blog look too!
ReplyDeleteI love the cute casual day Friday look! You are always so cute. I would love to try a guest blog - I have never done that before. I dress professionally nearly every day at work - even though I work at a company where flip flops are acceptable! :) I look forward to this event even I am not chosen to blog.... I just like reading your blog and hearing the kindness in your writing. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteyay for belting it! belts make me very, very happy too. :)
ReplyDeleteand i can't wait to see what other bloggers say for your feature. i would love to help out too!

A great idea - I'm gonna get back to you with a suggestion. Also, love the blue top with blue jeans because you're creating a long, lean line of casual chic.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the jeans day at the office.I like the new layout at your blogand I've said that before you new hair style!
ReplyDeleteI am loving your new blog layout- I am hopeless at things like that so it's great you have someone helping you out! You look great in jeans- I love the peasant top! I will keep my mind open for professional attire bloggers (def not me!) ;)
ReplyDeleteI only have to dress professional when I teach (like, 4 times a year) and otherwise I have a literal uniform I wear (talk about not being creative ;)).
ReplyDeleteI just finished teaching and I realized that my professional attire is really close to what i'd wear normally but I replace my jeans with dress pants or a pencil skirt. I have a lot of blouses and blazers I wear normally.
The real challenge? getting my 17 year old students to dress professionally. According to them, tube tops fit the dress code ;)
I love that blue on you Mel, it looks seriously amazing with your skin tone. You practically glowing in these pictures!
ReplyDeletethat top's color looks lovely on you.
ReplyDeleteI love this color! It's fantastic. I used to always wear jeans to work because it was a very casual environment. And I LOVE belts too! They're so much fun.
ReplyDeleteI'll see if I can think up a professional dressing blogger for ya!

Hmn.. I'm always in suits so I don't know if that's helpful! ha ha!
Actually, I always defy the rules in that department - always!

I may be way behind on things here (and I am, if my Google Reader is any indication, but that's beside the point), but I love the redesign! So cheerful! And this blouse is gorgeous...I always love this color on you :)
ReplyDeleteMy office doesn't really have a strict dresscode, but I do generally try to keep things as professional as possible. I have a running dress code in my head, anyway, which I sometimes adhere to less than I would like. It's a process!
