*Disclaimer: In the interest of full disclosure and authenticity, I will tell you that after seeing these photos, I promptly went back to my room and put on black tights before leaving for work. So. Yeah. Pardon the glare of my legs. Wowza!
I know the post title is a little corny, but I couldn't come up with anything better.
This cranberry skirt is a recent purchase from Gap's clearance section. I think it just barely works for the "just above the knee" dress code regulation. Other than the necklace, I think everything is dress code perfect! I took the necklace off when I had to run an errand at the main medical plaza, so I did good.
I've had these shoes for a while but I bought them before I lost the weight so they're a little too big now. Time to get some heel grips, because they're really cute and I don't want to get rid of them!
That's all I've got for today. If you haven't suggested any questions for the professional blogger interview feature, send some in! I've gotten some really good questions from some of you and I want to make sure that this feature answers YOUR questions, not just mine!
Have a great day!
Today's outfit:
Cranberry Skirt: GAP
Black Blouse: New York & Co. (this thing is over 10 years old!)
Blazer: Can't remember
Black Tights: Wal-Mart
Heels: Target
Necklace: Charlotte Russe
This outfit HAS to fall into dress code - and yet it is still very cute and very much Melissa!!!
ReplyDeleteOoh the color of that skirt is so fabulous! I love the whole color palette actually, just a beautiful outfit :) And of course I love the little touches with the adorable shoes and necklace!
ReplyDeleteHave you considered adding trim to some of your shorter skirts to bring them to a more dress code approved length? Or would using lace be considered too "sexy"?
ReplyDeleteI have a skirt about that colour, and I tend to wear it with the same 2 shirts, so I'll look forward to seeing how you style it!
I love the new blog design.
ReplyDeleteI think your legs look fine, but I'm also living in the land of eternal winter, so they seems tan to me:)
No More Sweatpants
This is a great professional look...berry good!!
ReplyDeleteI would have added the tights as well...but in warmer weather I do not think you would need to do that.
I like the new skirt! I've layered some skirts before to make them work-worthy. Hey, ya gotta do what ya gotta do to wear the cute stuff, right?

Great professional outfit -the boss should be happy today! Blog is looking great!!
ReplyDeleteI like the new skirt. I think it is long enough, but I'm not the dress code expert!
ReplyDeleteCute outfit!! I love how you added color but with a subtle and conservative purple skirt. Good job!

You look gorgeous! I love the shoes.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if I've recommended this before, but why not buy a few 'slips' (similar to these: http://www.etsy.com/shop/aslipshop?ref=pr_shop_more ) to add length to your shorter skirts for work. I know it's hot in FL but it might be worth looking into a thin layering sheath with the added trim to the bottom - so you don't have to permanently alter your skirts, but have 2-3 slips to give length.
So cute! I love the beautiful color of that skirt!
ReplyDeleteLove the skirt, such an interesting shape. And I feel you on the leg glare. Mine has been crazy lately but I just can't convince myself to care!
ReplyDeleteLove the colour of your skirt and the title of the post!
ReplyDeleteWould love to know how long it takes other busy/ professional bloggers to get ready in the morning. It always seems to take me ages as I can never make up my mind what to wear
Love the color of the skirt...and too funny that you have to take the necklace off to leave...seems so silly!!
ReplyDeleteLove purple on you! Did your boss say anything about it being too short or did the tights cover up the length? Hope you're having a super week!
ReplyDeleteI love the new design - the header and the polka dot background are great - when did this happen?!?! Also - I love that purple skirt. When I was working in a biz casual office I was always on the lookout for fun colored skirts. They're so versatile. And even though it's still perfectly appropriate - this skirt is so much more FUN than just a basic black pencil skirt.
ReplyDeleteI REALLY like this skirt. There couldn't possibly be anything for your boss to say about this outfit, esp. with tights! You look wonderful today, and if I haven't already said it I LOVE the new look of the blog!
ReplyDeleteThe color of this skirt is fabulous, and makes for a great overall professional look. Speaking of professional, I can't wait to see your new feature. I think professional wear is something many of us struggle with on a daily basis!
ReplyDeleteLooking good, Mel! I love this outfit...and I love that you're working the dress code to suit your own style :)
ReplyDeleteThis Life, Redefined…stop by and say hi!
