Daily MelWear: Ladylike

Have you heard?

The blog world is all atwitter with Kendi's announcement that the Winter Edition of the 30 for 30 Challenge will begin on February 1st.

You guys...I signed up to do it this time. And it terrifies me.

How's that for overdramatic?

I haven't participated in one of the 30 for 30s yet, so I'm excited about it, but I'm also a little nervous at the idea of limiting my options for 30 days and trying to take pictures of all 30 outfits. With last week's little emergency on Thursday, I do need to limit my spending for a while and this is perfect timing for that. So yay!

How many of you are going to play this time around? Do those of you that have participated in the past have any advice in regards to picking items, what to avoid, what to definitely include, etc.?

I didn't realize that we have a meeting scheduled for this morning so when we sat down for our little office coffee meeting, my boss reminded me that I'd have to "take off the bling" later. It amuses me that she calls it bling. I don't know why, it just makes me smile. Working here makes me so much happier.

I found this dress on clearance at Target a few weeks ago and figured it was time to break it out. The temperature today is supposed to be in the mid-70s so I figured bare legs and a light cardigan were all I'd need. It's simple and comfortable and I like it.

Hope you're all having a great day so far!

Today's outfit:
Black Sheath Dress: Target
Purple Cardigan: Plato's Closet
Silver Belt: Can't remember
Silver Heels: Payless
Necklace: Charlotte Russe
Black Flower Necklace: Charlotte Russe

  5. Love this outfit! Very business lovely :)

It's okay - I'm terrified to do Kendi's challenge too. I think I'm going to sit this one out too. I've got a ton of new Christmas clothes that I'm having too much fun wearing to limit myself. Maybe I'll be up for the Summer Challenge.

    Good luck! :)

  9. You look so pretty!! I think the bling is great too bad you have to take it off to look professional. I have never done a 30 for 30 because I really am not too sure I could do it. I should perhaps it would help me cut back on my spending!

  11. I hadn't heard about Kendi's next 30 for 30 til your comment on my last post, so its funny that it's coming up just as I was thinking of doing something similar!

I'm sure you'll do great with the challenge! I'm all for trying it this time around but I'm just worried I wont get photos of everything.

I love all your "bling"! I'm sure I'd get in trouble with your dress code, I'm so addicted to all the metal I sport. Your dress is fantastic too, great shape and I love the subtle pattern.

  12. I love the bling and those silver heels make the outfit. Love them :)

  13. hmmm, I like the bling :-) the dress is lovely! i love the silver accents.

As for the 30for30, I'm not a shoe person, so I would use fewer shoes (4 pairs). Don't forget about weekends - you may or may not feel like getting dressed up for a Saturday to run errands. good luck! You'll do great :o)

  14. Love the belt! Too bad you had to tone down on the 'bling'. Goodluck on the 30/30.

  15. I've chickened out of the 30 for 30 both times. My mind just gets rebellious and all of a sudden the stuff I can't wear looks so GOOD.

I carried that same dress around me and then put it back at the last minute. I'm kinda regretting it - you styled it so cute.

  16. You look amazing in that dress...I cannot imagine having to take my "bling" off for a meeting

  17. That dress suits you perfectly and that necklace! What is up with that? and why isn't it around my neck too?

  18. I love that dress! It's pretty fabulous! I'm so glad you're liking the new office so much more! Definitely the silver lining to a cloud!

  19. It's also my first time to do 30 for 30. In order to do that, I have to start a blog. Both blogging and limit my self to 30 items for a month scares me. Love your blog and your bling.

  20. Good luck with the remix challenge! I'm too nervous to do something like that myself - but from the gals who have done it, I'd heard multiples of them mentioning they wished they selected fewer shoes because they really reached for 2-3 pairs.

  21. This outfit is adorable! Also, I'm moving to your neighborhood, because I am over the 40-50 degree weather in Atlanta...I am very much over wearing tights this year :)

I did the last 30 for 30, and I was a little overwhelmed at first, but I kind of got into a good rhythm with my 30 items. And when it was all over? I was too overwhelmed to get back into my normal wardrobe because there were too many choices! I think I ended up doing a 30 for 32 or 33.

  22. Great outfit! I love love love the dress. I think it's funny your boss thinks the necklace is blingy--I think it's perfect!

And I'm sure you will rock the 30. I think I'm sitting this one out, but may be back next time (I did it twice already)

  23. Love the outfit.

    Glad you are joining in.
Here are some of my tips from the 2nd challenge I did http://scrapandrun.blogspot.com/2010/12/30-things-i-learned-during-30-for-30.html

Why do you have to take off your bling for meetings?

Also I've been meaning to say I like that you post larger images.

  24. That dress is a great find, I love the subtle stripes. I don't think your look is overly "blingy" at all but, to each their own.

Good luck with the 30 for 30!!

  25. You look great and your boss must really be plain if she feels that you are too blingy! Congrats on the 30 for 30, I can't do it...I don't have enough separates to do it.

  26. I love the shimmery diagonal stripes on your skirt. What a unique and glamourous piece. And your flower ring is so fun! Too bad you had to remove it for your meeting, but I'm sure it gave your boss cause to smile, nonetheless!

  27. 30 days is too long for me.
However I am getting ready to do Jane's Wardrobe Capsule... it's just one week.
I am certain you have been already told, but I must say you look FAB...
FABULOUS in this outfit + that pretty smile.

  28. So cute! I love the silver accessories! Meanwhile, I'm super impressed you're doing the 30 for 30 I haven't been brave enough to sign up yet!

  29. You are so chic!!! I saw this dress onthe clearance rack at Target, but they didn't have it in my size! I love how you styled it wih the silver heels and belt!!

I am also participating in the 30 for 30 - I've never done it either. I was a little hesitant because I have so many holes to fill in my closet, but I want to give it a try anyway.

  30. I am in love with your black sheath dress. It's hard to believe that it's from target. Love that BLING too! I never tried 30 for 30 challenge. Good luck with the 30 for 30!

  31. This is so fabulous!! And I adore those shoes!! I would totally wear this outfit! (Hehe, I would totally wear most of your outfits actually.) And yay for giving the 30 for 30 a try!! I would totally be giving it a go this time around, but I feel like I need to get back on track with being a decent blogger before giving the 30 for 30 a go! (Also, I really want to go through my entire closet on my blog before doing a lot of remixing too). Good luck with the remixing! :)

  32. Aren't you looking fabulous ??!
This is beautiful on you, well done!
Nope, I am not in 30/30 - i have clothes that I need to wear to make the most out of my investment and make it a cent per wear!
