Daily MelWear: Polka Dots and Purple

Happy Tuesday, friends!

I've worn this outfit before to church but didn't photograph it, so I figured I might as well do that. :) Wearing a belt like this is WAY out of my comfort zone, because I feel like it highlights my hips as the widest part of my body. I really do like it though and might have to find a few more belts like this.

Belts are awesome.

Look, I can do the blogger pigeon toe pose! :)

The pop of purple in the flower makes me smile. I love little pops of unexpected color. It's a happy thing.

Hope you're all having a great week so far! Tell me about your weekend, what did you do?

Today's outfit:
Skirt: Burlington
Tank: Target
Cardigan: Target
Belt: Dots
Flower Pin: From my MIL (actually given to my daughter, but, well...you know...)
Necklace: Gift from the very sweet and super gorgeous ML
Heels: Beall's

  1. That purple is great! You don't expect it but it looks really good!! And hey, the belt works! It doesn't make you look wide at all.

    I REALLY like this outfit!

  5. I love the skirt. You couldn't catch me dead with a giant purple flower on my waist. Because, you know what would happen right...I'd be wearing that thing, and it would migrate to my BUTT. And then...I'd have a giant purple flower on my ass-ets all day.

  7. Really cute outfit! The belt and pop of purple make is so much fun. I have found some great belts in at Goodwill, resale, and Ross...you might check them out if you want to beef up your belts...they are great and slenderizing. Thanks for the sweet comments about my scary weekend...still recovering a little bit...

  8. I love this outfit! It makes me smile just to look at it. I'm sure your daughter doesn't mind if you "borrow" her flower, it looks so good with that belt I'm sure she understands.

  9. Oh, I think the belt looks super super cute like that! I love the purple flower and the yellow and white polka dots are so much fun!

I didn't do anything fun at all this weekend. We thought about it. Then we ventured outside and melted within about 5 minutes. It's just so darn hot and humid!

  14. Mel! Your hair looks great! This is a very cute outfit. I think there's nothing better to elevate my mood than to add pops of color to a neutral palette (when I'm not feeling all over color). As for belts, I am a belt hoarder. Can't have too many!

  15. Super cute, Mel! I love yellow and purple together.

And before you know it, the princess will be borrowing from your closet on a daily basis, so I think you're owed a few raids on hers :)

  24. The skirt is really cute and the belt gives it a nice accent! I don't thinks makes your hips look wide at all!

  25. This is so so cute, it does not make your hips look big. The belt actually looks like part of the top. It actually makes your waist look smaller with the white cardigan. Great job on the visual balance.
