Daily MelWear: I Feel Naked...

If you've been following me for any length of time, you know that I wear a belt pretty much every day.

I couldn't find one that worked the way I wanted with this outfit...so I'm not wearing one. And it makes me feel a little incomplete.

Most people have nightmares that they find themselves walking around naked...I have nightmares that I find myself without belts.

I never claimed to be normal.

Happy Wednesday, friends!

{PS - thank you to those who thought about me and asked about my daughter's first day of VPK! She had a BLAST and couldn't wait to go back the next day! Her daily report was full of good news and I'm so, so proud of her. Taking the day off on Monday to bring her to school and pick her up just makes me wish I could be a stay at home mom, though...}

Today's outfit:
Brown Skirt: Salvation Army
Leopard Blouse: Salvation Army
Red Sandals: From my mom

  1. Look at you rocking the Salvation Army and making it look good. You were fine without a belt. I can't believe you didn't just wear your red one. You DO have a red belt don't you? Oh, but you said you couldn't make one look the way you wanted to.

When I first saw your post I thought you would not be wearing any jewelry. That always makes ME feel naked.

  2. This is successful thrifting!! Looks great without a belt...I feel naked without jewelry, so I understand!! You look marvelous!

  3. I think it looks great without a belt! I don't always wear one-- especially with a skirt. A lot of times my shirt outfits don't need one!

PS- I feel naked without my mascara. I wear it even to the beach.

  4. This looks fine without a belt, but I understand what you mean. There are certain pieces of jewelry that if I forget to wear them I just feel wrong all day.

  5. As much of a belt hound I am - I love this! It's simple, but chic. I think it still shows off your shape nicely, but doesn't look odd without the belt. I think you could even go beltless more often and look fab.

  6. Glad to hear your daughter's first day went well, that's so exciting! I love your leopard top, and the shoes are perfect with the pop of red!

  7. This looks totally fine without a belt. I know what you mean though, you feel kind of naked without one!

You know I love this outfit with the leopard and the red shoes! Perfection :)

  8. I love your top! And I understand how you feel except my naked feeling comes when I do not wear a statement necklace...I just feel like I am missing something! You look great :)

  9. Before I started blogging, I barely ever wore belts at all - and now I feel like you do, like if I don't belt an outfit, something's missing!

I think this outfit still looks fantastic on you - belt or not!

  10. First, Hahaha!! That's me laughing at your nightmares. =) You're so cute!

Second, I can totally relate about the SAHM thing! We've talked about this before and I totally feel for you. I'm actually applying for a program that will help me get ready to get my teacher's certification. Hopefully, by next year, I'll be teaching! That's the next best thing to staying home with the kids, right?

  11. I think this is great without a belt! Streamlined and pulled together!

As for the SAHM - now that your daughter is in school, you're nearing the point where "Mommy Fridays" probably aren't going to be as fun with her not around, but you'll be free to look at other options - what about working in a school setting? I don't know your education / employment history, but there's got to be something in music or admin that you'll at least have the experience!

  12. Great outfit, even without a belt lol :) I'm glad your daughter had a great 1st day. I've been teaching K for 11 years so I KNOW how stressful that 1st day is on the parents. Robert's going on his 3rd year of daycare and I'm sure I'll still get emotional on that 1st drop off day after summer vacation ends!

  13. Glad to hear your daughter had a great time :) LOL sometimes a belt is not needed but I hear what you're saying! I used to NEVER wear rings or earrings but now when I don't wear anything I'm fiddling with my hands and my ears LOL!

  14. OH my goodness. I got so excited by the title...I was sure I was going to get to see BOOBAGES again. Sadly, you're just wearing leopard.

Those shoes...I can't wear shoes like that. My feet are too narrow. My toes fall out the front.

  16. ha!! This outfit looks killer on you...even without a belt!. Lately I have been wishing I could go back to be a part time stay at home mom...but then I wake up and realize someone has to work full time!!

  17. I'm going to echo the others and say that this looks great without a belt. Sometimes less is more!

  18. Those are some really cute finds at the SA! I think your outfit looks great w/o belt. The leopard print top and red shoes are enough to give your look pizazz. As for feeling naked--I get the same way when I don't do enough "layering".

  20. I've been dying for a leopard top for a while now! Way to style it with the black skirt and red heels; it's such a classic combination.

  21. I definitely know what you mean! I am constantly adding belts to outfits, they're my favorite accessory.

  22. Even without a belt this is a great outfit! Love the animal print. Perhaps try a yellow belt with this combination, although that would mean the red shoes have to go. Boo... - Katy

  23. I feel in the nude without a watch! It is so weird for me not to wear one so I definitely know the feeling! I don't think you needed a belt for today's outfit! It looks fantastic the way it is :) You look fantastic in leopard :) ROAR!!!

  24. You are too funny. I do love the animal print blouse with the red shoes combo.

  25. I adore this outfit, and your poses are so cute! I wear a belt whenever I wear pants, but have never been able to pull it off with skirts or dresses (I"m very straight up and down, which might be part of the reason). I love your blog :)

  27. Ha! I don't even recognize you without your belt! My world is all turned upside down :)

But, you look fantastic, belt or not. I love the leopard print. And...yeah...this is totally a look that I want to steal from you!

And every Monday that I spend at home with B makes me wish I could stay home with her all of the time...

  28. Cute Outfit and its werid to see you with out a belt on. Glad your daughter had a good day at VPK.

  29. Yeah leopard synchronicity! I love your spots. I think this look is complete without the belt. You look amazing in it and I love the pop of red in the shoes.

  30. I love the leopard and the red heels are sassy! I feel naked without heels (which you always rock as well!) What does the V in VPK stand for?

  31. You look like a million dollars! The hottest mom in town! Glad it went so well for the both of you!

  32. I love the length on that skirt; it's very vava-voom.

  33. wow the lack of belt makes a huge difference. I wonder if the opposite is true on me since I usually don't wear a belt.
