Daily MelWear: Blue and Gray

Blue and gray are just the outfit colors, they're not how I'm feeling today. :)

Although I am fairly exhausted, regardless of the fact that I forgot to set my alarm last night so I woke up an hour and a half late and didn't have time to work out or eat breakfast. Oops. Yay for extra sleep?

This is an outfit I've had in the back of my mind for a while and since I hadn't picked anything out for today, this worked for a rushed morning. Easy outfits make me happy.

This dress is one of four that I have in different colors: gray (obviously), lilac, brown and black. My spring/summer weekend uniform is typically one of these dresses to wear around the house, and then if I leave for any reason I throw on a belt, sandals, some jewelry and I'm good to go! Oh how I adore these dresses.

Today is Administrative Professional's Day! If you supervise admins, leave a comment and tell me what you're doing (or did) to express your appreciation. If you're an administrative professional, tell me what your boss is doing (or did) for you!

Have a great day, everyone!

Today's outfit:
Gray Dress: Ross
Blue Shirt: Ross
White Belt: Wal-Mart
Gray Heels: Payless

  1. I am an admin. It says so right in my title : Administrative Coordinator. Alas, I doubt that the therapists and artsy fartsy people I work with will even be aware. I am not getting my hopes up to be acknowledged. Although, that being said, I do get constant acknowledgement around here because they were without an admin for 9 months prior to me coming on board. So, they still appreciate me.

I love this dress. I am on the lookout for some new work appropriate dresses. It is starting to warm up here and I am ready to be done with pants. Wearing a skirt today...but I loooove dresses. And none of my old dresses fit anymore.

And oh yeah...I ALMOST wore those shoes today. But I opted for a little bit darker since my gray skirt is on the dark side. And....the shoes I have on were part of last year's Valentine's present from my loverly wife. :)

  3. What fantastic staples--I'd wear that dress ALL the time, too. One of my favorite looks on you--it's so crisp and springlike.

  4. I'm admin! But I'm not at work today. But "the boys" to let me know they appreciate me quite regularly. In fact, I'd sent a status update on a project to one yesterday, and he sent back the nicest email that I actually contemplated printing out.

Love the colour combination again today!!

  5. ah, I love this outfit! Blue and grey look so nice together...but I can't think of a single recent outfit when I've worn that combo - this must be remedied!

I, unfortunately, do not have an admin assistant (I wish!), and I'm not an admin assistant....I wish there was just a "regular office employee day" because there's definitely boss's day and admin day, and I deserve some recognition, dang it! (right?....)

  8. I love the blue and grey together! That looks like quite a versatile dress.

I suppose I'm an admin as I'm an "engineering assistant" (fancy title, huh?), but nothing special going on today. I prefer to fly under the radar, anyways. :)

  9. There is something amazing about this color combo. That blue is a fabulous shade of robin's egg blue.

Speaking of alarms - I turned off my phone's alarm this morning in my sleep (involves picking up, opening and hitting the end button). I woke up an hour later. D ended up missing class. Oops!

  19. That dress really is the perfect summer uniform...I love it! And the blue blouse underneath is such a great color.

I'm glad you got a little extra sleep today...I think not setting your alarm was your subconscious telling you that you needed it :)

  22. Great dress! I can definitely see how it would be much more casual without the shirt underneath, and yet looks totally professional with the shirt.

  23. While blue and grey sounds sad, the blue is bright enough to lift the combination into happy land. You're so adorable!

  26. Very nice! I love this color pairing. And that it follows all the rules without being boring! We don't have any admins in our department, so don't really do anything for AP day.
