It's Thursday and that means I can wear jeans! Except I didn't. Because I'm still on a hunt for the perfect pair of trouser jeans. I've tried Gap and Loft and a few other places and I still don't like how they fit me. I'll get there eventually.
I decided to wear a shirt I probably can't ever wear when my boss is here because of the embellished neckline - although it IS a solid color and it's technically NOT a necklace, she would consider this "bling" and want me to change if anyone came over.
I haven't worn this pink dress in a while, probably not since the last time I wore it during the Blogging for Breast Cancer Awareness challenge, so I figured I'd layer the tee on top, throw on a belt and call it an outfit.
And now I have to go get lots of work done. LOTS of work. I've been trying hard to catch up on blog posts but I've barely made a dent in my reader (I'm still so far behind!) and now I really need to focus on getting tons of things done at work.
Yay!
Pink Dress: Ross
Gray Tee: Plato's Closet White Belt: Wal-Mart
Gray Pumps: Payless
Ring: Can't remember...
ohhh, that pink dress is so pretty. I like the pop of white.
ReplyDeleteThe "bling" rule is the worst! But you look perfectly casual and comfortable today, and it sounds like its the perfect day for that!
ReplyDeleteI like it. And I probably would NOT have thought to throw a cute dressy tee over a dress. But I don't have to now that you have!!! And I loooove pink and gray together. Almost as much as gray and yellow. They make me happy!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah...and I love those shoes, too. Wore mine the other day.
See those are the shoes I was looking for when I bought my "let's pretend mushroom means grey" wedges in January. Sigh - US Payless always has such better selection than Canada's Payless!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend!
I love you tee shirt. Super cute. Good luck on getting that tons of work done.

Oh I love your "bling" though! The grey and the pink are so pretty together - have a "fun" day at work!
ReplyDeleteTrouser jeans are difficult to find. I have a pair from the LOFT and an old pair from Express. But have you tried New York & Co? They have a pair that I tried on and might need to go back and purchase. They fit perfectly and looked great on! - Katy
ReplyDeleteI love that shade of pink! You look casual yet put together - perfect :)
ReplyDeleteLove that tee and the shoes are great. Good luck with your trouser jean hunt. I hate shopping and looking for jeans. WHen you are looking you can never find it. Hope you do though.
ReplyDeleteRe: mommy groups. Have you researched in meet-up or local communities for mommy groups? That is how I found mine. Joined when my son was 3 months old. It is such an amazing support system.
Love the color today! I'm still having issues with trouser-y jeans too. Look for ones with stretch. They fit much better. And if you find some - let me know where you get them.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful Thursday too. Love the pink skirt, the top and the shoes - a fun outfit.
ReplyDeleteLove the embellished neckline...and you look hot in pink!!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about your boss. That's no fun. Well I love the pink and gray color combination. And super idea to layer them and make the dress a skirt. You look fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI know that it takes time to find the right jeans, but once you find them..WOW..it was worth it...so hang in there.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a cute top!! I need to start thinking about my own work attire now too! it's harder than I think to put together conservative chic outfits! I think I need a dedicated work apparel thrift trip!!
ReplyDeleteLove those shoes! Payless is so great lately..with all their designer collaborations.
ReplyDeleteAlso love how you made the look your own with the t-shirt over the dress.
Happy Friday

Honestly - I'm starting to get infuriated just reading about your boss and your dress code! I think you look perfectly appropriate here, and I can't see why you have these rediculous constraints! I'm glad you got a chance to flex your fashion wings while your boss was out of the office. I love your pink skirt for a touch of spring!
ReplyDeleteLove those shoes Melissa!
ReplyDeleteWow, I love the detail on that top, those kinds of things make "t-shirts" OK!
ReplyDeleteI always look forward to your cute shoe pose- love this pair! Great outfit, you're ready for spring! Hope you had a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou look so pretty in that slate grey color! and I love it paired with a pop of pink. Such a refreshing and spring-like addition!
ReplyDeleteI'm really behind, too. I can't believe that's 'bling,' I think it's just pretty!!

You must be the fanciest mom, nay, employee in your office. Pink and graphite look great together.
ReplyDeleteYou are just the cutest! Love this outfit. The pop of color is just to die for! I'm usually not a pink person but I think I could pull off pink and gray..thanks for the inspiration! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the way you layered your sweater over your dress! Btw, you look great in that shade of pink.
ReplyDeleteCute! I love the pink dress, and the shoes are fabulous! And I'm reminded that I want a white belt now too!! Good luck finding some trouser jeans! :)
