I am entirely not used to wearing all neutrals. It feels foreign to me. Typically a pop of color will happen somewhere.
Today, however, I decided that I really wanted to wear these shoes. Since they have black and tan in them, I knew I wanted to wear one of my black dresses and then this blazer popped out at me. Yes, I realize the two tan (ish) colors don't quite match, but whatever. They're far enough apart on my body that it doesn't really matter.
Now for the necklace. It's cute. I like it. But it's a pain in the...it's a pain. It's basically just a ribbon, so I have to tie it each time and getting it the right length with my hair in the way is annoying. Then it doesn't quite sit right, it keeps flipping over.
Perhaps that's why it was on clearance. Eh.
So anyway, the chairman of our board will be here this afternoon because his "board" office time is scheduled for Wednesdays in our office. I'm pretty certain that our boss will ask him how we were doing without her, so I wanted to make sure I dressed appropriately. I'm pretty sure he won't notice the necklace or the dress having a lower neckline, and I'm also pretty sure he won't care that the heels aren't closed-toe (but if he does, we did get permission to wear sandals and open-toe shoes as long as it's only in our office and we don't have any meetings here, so I'm safe regardless). The blazer is there for added professionalism.
Today's outfit:
Black Dress: Plato's Closet
Blazer: Goodwill BoutiqueSnakeskin Sandals: Beall's
Bib Necklace: Forever 21
I love neutrals and this outfit is fabulous on you!!!
ReplyDeleteYou look polished and professional! Very cool blazer :)
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit. While I agree a pop of color is nice to do usually, this really does speak volumes without being too bright, loud or bold. I love the shoes and the whole contrast in tan colors shows just how put together you really are. Your wardrobe (and accessories) don't have to be too matchy matchy, but when it all goes together like this, it looks so effortless!
ReplyDeleteU look great! Gotta love those shoes!!
ReplyDeleteWhile colour is nice, I like the way that you still get bold contrast between the two neutrals!
ReplyDeletecute snakeskin heels!
ReplyDeleteI love these neutrals together!
ReplyDeleteYour necklace hide the neckline. So you should be good.
ReplyDeleteMy week is going good so far.

I like the neutrals, and I think the animal print shoes are eye catching enough without bright colors.
ReplyDeleteWow, girl. You look great! I like the neutrals.
ReplyDeletethings have been busy here with the audit and everything. I am pulling my hair out and getting way too stressed about it, but I am trying not to.
This goes to show that you really can dress work appropriate and still have touches of your personality. I love the ribbon belt, adds femininity to the blazer and the necklace is lovely too. I like the idea of ribbons a lot but in reality if I can get it tied properly then I end up with dreadlocks at the nape of my neck at the end of the day!
ReplyDeletei love the neutral look and that bib necklace is so lovely!
ReplyDeletecute & little
Gorgeous! And this proves that neutrals are anything but boring! And, to too off looking fantastic, it's also very professional looking.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering, did you decide to treat yourself to a more expensive dress once a month or so, like you mentioned? Every time I see an amazing clearance sale (like at Loft---50% off sale prices!) I think of you. Sometimes there are some pretty awesome deals out there!
This outfit is great, and there definitely can't be any complaints. Those shoes are pretty awesome, too!!!
ReplyDeleteCoronarita...frozen margarita with a Corona dumped inside it - and served with the bottle still in it, so it just slides out a little at a time. It's like a beer snow cone and absolutely delicious!!
great oufit...very stylish but professional...love all the neutrals on you...those shoes are killer!!
ReplyDeleteBTW...follow me on twitter, I just joined and I only have I follower...ha!! LutzRL

I love colors, but I also love neutrals. The black/tan combo works great. I like how the necklace blends with the dress neckline. It allows you to wear the necklace without it being too obvious, but it also helps out the necklace.
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit! I think, sometimes, the flair in an outfit can come from something beyond just pretty colors, and in this case, it's the shoes. I absolutely love the shoes!
ReplyDeleteVery chic and professional :)
This Life, Redefined…stop by and say hi!
The sandals are great! I think you did a great job dressing around it. So beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI know it's as difficult for you to rock the neutrals as it is for me... but you look AWESOME in this! The blazer and the shoes are my favorites!
ReplyDeleteHI,
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to let you know I linked to you and listed you as a recipient of the versatile blogger award.

You have been killing it with the blazer outfits! This is so nice and professional. I think the print heels are a great touch. Just a bummer that the necklace didn't want to stay put. I've always been scared of ribbon-tie necklaces, and now I feel good about that. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the outfit and the shoes! I'm a neutral girl so the outfit is perfect for me. And the necklace, very nice.
ReplyDeleteWow, you go, girl! This outfit is amazing on you! So very classic and chic!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the neutral look, it's so chic and pretty!
ReplyDeleteI totally know how you feel about only wearing neutrals without a pop of color. I always feel like I have to add some bright earrings or a scarf. But this looks great! And those shoes really do add that "pop." You look fantastic!

Ok...got to fess up here...I love neutrals. I think I would wear pale colors every day if I had enough outfits. So, needless to say, I adore this look! And those shoes are so perfect. Really, you don't need a bright color when you have such great shoes. I think I might need those shoes.
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit. I have a tan blazer. I have a black dress. ideas....
ReplyDeleteNow was the ribbon belt part of it or was that an addition on your end?
I love this look. I want the whole combination. Girl you look so good.
ReplyDeleteI wore a necklace like that this past week as well, it seemed like a great idea and then I got it home and it was not that easy to work with. I love your neutral combo!
ReplyDeletePfftt, matching is for amateurs. It’s all about “going” and this completely goes. This look is super professional. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteFabulous!! I love the shoes, and I think it looks super professional! (And the necklace is cute, I'm sorry to hear it's a pain to tie and get it to look right. I hope it went well with the higher ups being in the office!
