Daily MelWear: Seeking...

I'm seriously in need of some inspiration and ideas lately. I feel like I've run out of creativity with my wardrobe, and maybe that's partly due to the restrictiveness of my office, but I'm normally pretty okay with restrictions.

It may also have something to do with the fact that I've been SO busy I haven't had time to read any other blogs, and that's normally where I find my inspiration.

So, this outfit was thrown together on a whim while rushing to get into the shower after my workout. An all-neutral outfit is out of the norm for me, but the leopard belt helps. Leopard helps everything.

There has been a really positive response to the BBCA challenge this year and a good amount of bloggers have already signed up to participate. Click here if you haven't signed up yet!

Have a great Thursday, everyone...Friday is just a day away now! (Funny, that's how that always works on Thursdays...)

Today's outfit:
Black Shirt: NY&Co (OLD - this is probably from 1999 or 2000 or something ridiculous like that!)
Skirt: Ross (part of a suit)
Belt: Stein Mart (came with a skirt)
Sandals: Beall's

  1. I hear ya...sometimes I love deciding what to wear and sometimes it is just such a chore! Hurray for clothes that stand the test of time, though.

    Happy Thursday to you!

  2. Melissa, sit down with some magazines and tear looks you like from them. Then keep a file to look through when you are running dry. I would take this look...wear the shirt on the outside...belt at your waist...add an orange scarf....and some pointy toe shoes (heels or flats!! I have been building an inspiration file and even have a little bulletin board to post favorites on...it has helped immensely!!

  3. I agree with Pam in the comment above. Kayla and I tear out photos from magazines, sale ads, from catalogs, etc. and put them all in a binder to use for inspiration. It really helps getting dressed in the morning and not having to think! Either way, this outfit is pretty cute because of course you are wearing leopard!

  5. I love bright clothes but tend to choose neutrals when I am in a rush, especially after excercise classes. They just don't need as much thought! I love the way you have added the belt to the neutral colours.

Just to let you know my blog has now moved to a new url

  7. I like the combo with the leopard belt. If you want to try something different why don't you focus on trying to learn some new hairstyles. Switching to an updo or a braid or a ponytail with different hair accessories always helps my outfits feel different for me.

  8. You look elegant. Sometimes simple and easy is very good indeed!

  9. I love it, actually. Very classic, with a pop of fun with the shoes and belt. And I like the hairstyle idea--it often helps me get out of a rut!

  10. I think we all get into ruts sometimes. Different accessories always help, though, and you have a lot of cute shoes and belts.

  11. I too am in a it of a creative rut lately too. I love the addition of the leopard belt, it totally jazzes the neutrals up.

  12. I see neutrals on Melissa :D yay!!! See it wasn't so hard to put together right? You look awesome and I just picked up a leopard belt last night. Don't worry about running out of inspiration, sometimes an outfit with just the basics works beautifully!

  13. I'm with Bessie - don't worry too much about how you look like day to day; some days you look at a closet full of clothes and HAVE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO WEAR. Other days you find 10 perfect outfits in under a minute. On those days you should write down some inspiration and stick it to your closet door - works wonders for me!

I see.. a chambray shirt tucked into a kahki skirt (like the one you have on now) and a nice black blazer over it all. Neutrals!

  14. Such an adorable skirt. I know how you feel. That's why I keep my clothes in different sections/seasons so pulling things out feels like getting new clothes. I still hardly want to get dressed.. but that has more to do with the fact that I think I'm sick. D=

  15. pinterest is probably the most inspiring thing these days for me. Are you on there? If not, I'll send you an invite. It's my FAVORITE!! Totally got me out of my rut.
And you're right: leopard makes everything better.

  16. Hey, there's nothing wrong with the basics to get you through a busy time. And you look fabulous in them, anyway, so no worries!

Plus, that's pretty much my tried and true style everyday, so I'm a little biased :)

  17. You may FEEL uninspired, but you still look darn cute! Maybe other things are taking precedence right now. That's ok!!

  18. I'm going to agree with some of the ladies above...I like the way you look in these neutrals. Still sleek and sophisticated to me!
