Daily MelWear: Not A Fan

I have to be honest...when I first put this outfit on, I thought it looked okay. As I sifted through the photos and continued to look at them, I came to the conclusion that I don't really like this. Not so much. I can't pinpoint exactly what it is that bothers me; it just generally doesn't make me happy.

The beauty of style, though, is that you get to start over again with the next outfit, so here's to a better one tomorrow. :)

Hope you're all having a great day!

Today's outfit:
Dress: Target
Sleeveless Blouse: Target
Belt: Charlotte Russe? Forever 21? I can't remember
Sandals: Beall's

  1. I think you look great! If you are self-conscious about it, maybe the green top is too long? I'm always nervous about how things cover my hips. :) Happy Wednesday!

  4. You look great, but if you are not happy...the color combo and the polka dots are so cute! You shouldn't give up on this though, this look has lots of potential!

  5. Really? I think it's adorable! I love how the belt cinches in your waist, and how the dots show above the neckline. It's a fabulous look, really!

  6. I think the teal and polka dots look great together. You should try that top with other black and white prints too.

  8. The blouse is a bit not-fitted. I think that's why this doesn't work as well as it COULD. Because I think the idea behind it is fabulous. Teal with black and white polka dots? Yes plz. The best thing about the clothes is definitely that you can change them.

  9. Hey Mel! With your smile you always look great! Hmmmm...I see what you mean. The outfit not terrible but something...off? I'm thinking maybe the neckline. Maybe too much of the polka dot dress underneath showing through at the top? Maybe this wold work better with a higher cut top or lower cut dress. Just my thoughts but I love how you're always trying something new!! :)

  10. Hi Mel! You look so CUTE! I love polka dots - and I especially love that you put a cute top on with it. I don't think this outfit is a "fail" at all! I love it!. Teal and Black together??? YES PLEASE! I love your "happy" disposition that comes out in all of your pics!

  11. I totally had one of those days today...my shoes didn't really look so great with the rest of my outfit, but I went all over town in them. Oh well...you live, you learn! I do love how you layered creatively on this, though.

  13. I love bright colours with black and white and really like the look of this outfit. I often look at outfits and decide I don't like them after I have worn them all day!

  14. See, I thought the fit worked (Sorry to disagree Megan!!) , but the lower neckline being that much higher might be the culprit... But I love the idea!!

  15. I LOVE the idea of this outfit...the teal and polka dots is so cute...the only thing slightly off is the higher neckline of the dress I think...but other than that, adorable Melissa!

  18. Well, even if this outfit wasn't your favorite (and that happens to me all of the time...something I think I like, I'm not so fond of on photographic review. and my hair! my hair looks fine in the mirror, but terrible on film!),I think that the polka dot dress is an absolutely gorgeous base piece that will be so fun to style repeatedly :)

  19. The color combo and layering are great ideas, but maybe what's bugging you is that the material of the teal top isn't the most conducive to layering? You look lovely!

  20. Really? I actually adore this outfit- I think it works on so many levels (the pattern, the colour, the layering...I could go on!) Oh well what's important is that you feel good in it so here's to a better tmr :)

  23. I love the teal and the belt and I would never think of layering over a dress so I think it is pretty, but I know what you mean, when you don't like it you will feel uncomfortable while you are wearing it.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog yesterday, i don't see very many people so I love getting messages from my fashionista friends. I did post today, but well into the night. xo

  24. I really like the color combinations but I'm not sure about this particular top with the dress. I have to admit I just bought the same top (in a different color) on the clearance rack from Target.

  25. Love the polka dots & teal combo, but I think the neckline is what is not working for me.

  26. I know the felling - I've had such moments, even had to go home to change on a liunch break, when I wasn;t happy with what I wore. There wasn;t anything wrong, I just wasn't feeling right in it)
As for this one - I love polka dots so much <3)) I'm gonna remember this idea and try to recreate it some time soon)
