Daily MelWear: In Love

I found this chocolate brown skirt at the Salvation Army store and seriously, I'm in love with it. It's perfect. I wish I could find one in every single color. I would be a happy camper.

It's just so comfy and it fits well, the length is good, the shape is good...I just love it.

These heels are pretty awesome too, but I rarely wear them because I don't have much of a reason to wear bronze snakeskin. Heh.

Now let's move on to the blouse. Which, incidentally, was also a Salvation Army find. It's not a pattern I'd normally wear, nor are the colors ones I'd typically wear (there's navy in there Kish, are you proud? I did that for you!), but those are the reasons I bought it, to break out of my own style a little bit.

However, now I'm at a loss as to what to wear with it. I don't think black would look very good with it, but black is my primary neutral and I don't have much else.

So...any suggestions, dear friends?

By the way, I want to apologize for my lack of comments lately. Life is crazy (in a good way!) and busy and I'm also trying to slow down a bit and stress less...so my blog reading and commenting time is one thing I've had to sacrifice right now. I miss you all, I want you to know that!

I hope you're having a fantastic week - it's almost over!!!

Today's outfit:
Skirt: Salvation Army
Blouse: Salvation Army
Heels: Can't remember
Necklace: Gift from ML

  1. That IS a fabulous skirt which fits your perfectly! Great pattern on your top too - I think it would look great with a gray bottom.

  2. Very cute! I see some purple in the top, do you have a purple skirt?? (That would be quite daring, but I'd wear it lol) Or a nicer denim skirt? That could work too :)

  4. That is a great skirt! Isn't it awesome when you find something so perfect at the thrift store?

The shirt is beautiful too. I agree with eek that it would look good with gray. Do you have a purple skirt? Or if you really want to get bold your red skirt?

Hhmm, I think I would wear that colorful top with a white skirt. I think it would look bright and fresh!

  7. I was thinking gray, too. or possibly navy.

  8. I love the colors in that top! It would be so pretty with a sleek gray pencil skirt. Or paired with yellow or green. I just love it!

  9. You look great in that skirt. I would think about pairing the top with some pop of color like green or yellow or maybe a navy or purple skirt.

  10. I love that outfit...you don't wear brown a ton and I think it looks great on you!! That pattern on that top is fabulous with the brown pencil skirt and those fun bronze heels!

  11. Such a fabulous look and very well put together. And can I just say how much I love your bangs? The skirt is fabulous on you and the fit is perfect! The blouse goes great with the brown, and I think that top will go great with most bottoms. A plum skirt/pants would look great! Navy would work well too, something to make the colors POP even more!! And the shoes are fabulous :) They go with nothing yet they go with everything!!

  13. Now, this outfit looks like something I would wear! I love chocolote brown anything, and I'm loving those heels too. I think your top would look good with black or even a navy/dark blue bottom. Work it girl!

  14. Go for yellow, taupe or navy. Be careful to pull out the brightness without toning those beautiful colors down. It could be very clashy though, so I'd err on the side of conservative (and c'mon, you know I'm far from conservative). Love the addition of the copper shoes though. Cute!

  15. That skirt fits you like a dream! Maybe you could check out ebay for other colors? I *think* you could pair that shirt with gray, denim, cream, or navy. Sometimes it's hard to tell unless you're playing around with it.

I'm glad your life is going crazy good. :)

  16. I think it would look good with grey, which tends to be my go to neutral. Tan would look nice too.

  17. what a pretty blouse! From the pic I would think it might work with black, but maybe it looks different in person. Maybe something khaki/camel/tan? Or white (it's not fall in Florida yet!).

  18. Looking cute as always, Mel! You could wear that blouse with a khaki pair of shorts, or a camel cardigan. Or think in opposites and pair it with a bright fuschia skirt, which would pick up on the purple of the blouse.

  19. This is a great look and I'd probably wear it with a plum coloured skirt for fall. I also like how you paired it with chocolate brown as well.

  20. If you want to go bold, go with purple!

  21. It looks great! I"m really bad at coming up with color combos but I will say that I love those metallic shoes!!

  22. It is an adorable shirt! I agree with the suggestions for a purple skirt. That's what jumped out at me before I read the posts. Grey might look good....

  23. You're on your game today! I love the fit and colour of the skirt and the blouse is beautiful- definitely something I would pick up at a thrift store. Browns, deep reds, taupes and beiges would all look great with it!

  24. Hm... I'll admit that I'm stumped by that shirt. Partially because it is definitely toward the opposite end of the fashion spectrum from where I tend to hang out, but also because it has just enough colors to it that... almost anything neutral-esque would work. Throw caution to the wind and go with purple on bottom! Or something from the brown family. I bet it would also look good as a pop of color under a dress of some sort.

  25. Yeah your right, that skirt is FANTASTIC!!! I must tell you I really love the top too. The colors are gorgeous and that pattern is great. I adore this whole outfit!

  26. The print is nothing short of painterly and you are glowing as usual.

  27. P.S. I hear ya on not having enough time to catch up on blogs and comment more. I always feel so guilty about that!

  28. Maybe you could figure out how to make a pattern from the fab skirt that you have and then remake it in one zillion colours?? I don't know anything about sewing but it seems potentially possible!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I love that skirt, too! Great find. That top is too much fun. Have you thought about pairing it with grey? I think it would look good with black, but grey would look good, too.
And enjoy your less stress time. Life is always more important than the internet.

  30. So, I literally SQUEALED out loud when I read this! I feel like jumping up and down and clapping!!!

I think you look fantastic! Kudos to you for stepping out of your "pattern comfort zone"! The brown skirt is a perfect fit, and I really do like the print of the blouse on you. It still says "Melissa", but it seems to evoke another "side" of you...there's just something different, but I can't pinpoint what it is.

Anyway, it looks beautiful against your skin, and, oh gosh, I could see this paired with pale yellow PLEATED skirt (like, accordian-style pleats) or even a cardi in that color...or a cream (or something light in that family) or black pair of wide-leg pants with a wide black or brown belt to create a chic and streamlined silhouette...

However you wear it, I think it looks gorgeous on you, and I love the rolled up sleeves!
