Daily MelWear: Charming

Apparently there is some fabulous accessory store called Charming Charlie's of which I was not aware. My parents went to Texas to visit some family last week and my aunt introduced my mom to it. This necklace and a matching bracelet is what my mom brought back for me. She keeps gushing about how much I would love this store...if only they had one anywhere near us. So sad.

However, it helps that this weekend was really good. Nathan and I took our girls to see The Lion King 3D! That movie originally came out when I was in high school and I remember seeing it with the youth group on opening day. I LOVE The Lion King, it brings back so many memories, and it was a ton of fun to see it in theaters again and share that with my daughter. She liked it, although she wasn't a huge fan of the 3D glasses and only had them on for a few minutes.

You guys, I realize that autumn has officially arrived, but I can't bring myself to break out the autumn clothes. It's just way too hot still! I love the heat, that's why I live in Florida, but part of me can't wait for cold weather so I can break out my boots again. I miss my boots.

So tell me, what's your favorite cold weather item?

Today's outfit:
Skirt: From my aunt (part of a suit)
Black Tank: Can't remember
Cardigan: Plato's Closet
Belt: Dots
Sandals: Beall's
Necklace: From my mom

  1. Yes, Charming Charlie's are all over the place here. I haven't been in awhile, but your necklace is very charming! Actually you and your whole outfit are very charming as well. Have a great Tuesday :)

  4. I love your outfit! You look so skinny. I love the Lion King too. I wish I would've had the energy to go see it this past weekend.

  5. Sounds like a good weekend! I love that top - the color and the ruffles are fantastic.
Oh, and boots are my favorite cold weather item, too. They toughen up the sweetest outfits and make my dresses go from summer to winter.

  6. For what it's worth, I HATE Charming Charlies. Most of the stuff in there isn't my style (it's too plastic-y and bright for me), but it's sensory overload in the stores and I can't handle it. When they first opened in St. Louis everyone and their dog was telling me how much I would love it....and I don't. I think it's a little overrated, to be honest, and I would rather shop the Forever 21 accessory section any day. But I really like your necklace so MAYBE I can give it another shot :). I do know how much it sucks to not have a store near you when you want to check it out - we didn't have H&Ms in St. Louis until I was in college and it was TORTURE!

  7. I have mixed feelings about Charming Charlies...so I had heard the hype and buzz about it and it finally opened in Downtown Chicago. I went in and what is nice it is colour coordinated, but there is SO much stuff in there some of it is cool other's I can find for a better price at F21. Ummmm who is Nathan? Mel I am so sorry, I have not been visiting as regularly as I would like to...but whoever he is he must be fabulous because I can tell you are happy your face shows it :) like REALLY shows it!

  9. I was disappointed by Charming Charlie...it is a bit overwhelming and overpriced compared to Forever21...
You look amazing...your happiness radiating outward.

  10. Well, first off you look fabulous!! That pink is so pretty on you and you look so happy!

I'm a heat lover, too. =) But I'd have to say I'm looking forward to wearing tights and boots whenever it finally cools off around here!

  11. Love this color framing your beautiful face!
    Fabulous.
I LOVED the Lion King too..can't wait for Connor to be old enough to actually sit through a movie..so far Toy Story is the ONLY thing that keeps him captivated for any amount of time.

I am SO ready for the cooler weather...I love summer but am SO over it...want sweaters and boots to be my go to looks.

  12. Our summer came so late that I'm desperately clinging to shorts and open shoes. :) But I do love a slouchy sweater!

  13. I love the color combination of a fuschia and cream or white and the silhouette with the ruffles on the shirt is so pretty.

  14. You look spectacular in this outfit! I love the ruffles with the pencil skirt. We dont have a Charming Charlie's anywhere near me (as far as I know) but I've heard about it through the bloggy world.

I love the Lion King - is it sissy of me to admit that I bawled my eyes out at the original one when Mufasa died? Granted, I was 12, but still... They the stage/musical version here and I wish I could go but it ends this weekend and I can't make it...sigh.

and we already have cold weather, and I dont want it. Boots are nice though!

  16. You are looking fabulous!!!

I live around quite a few Charming Charlies, but I've never shopped there. I'm a pearl girl... It's all the jewelry I wear and own! Pretty boring, huh?

  17. I've heard lots about Charming Charlie's. I've never been in one, but I've heard it's an accessory lover's dream. Love your ruffled top!

I also saw the Lion king! We caught the 2D since I'm not a fan of 3D movies, but it's still a gorgeous movie to watch. It's still warm enough here to not wear boots, but I have a large collection I want to take full advantage of.

  20. This outfit is great!! I need more shell-like tops. I have a white with gray pinstripes skirt that I really want to wear, but it's starting to get chilly out and I want to pair it with something a little heavier.....will see...watch for it in the somewhat near future. :)

Looking forward to BBCA - especially since the ban on shopping has been lifted. Actually going shopping on lunch today for a dress for an upcoming "friend" wedding.

  21. Wait wait wait... have I missed something? Is Nathan the happy reason? If so absolutely big YAY! Whatever the reason, it's wonderful to see your lovely smile set off by that gorgeous colour!!

  22. The color of this blouse and belted look is dynamite on you! You've created an enviable look for sure. I love to see white after labor day, it makes this look even more amazing bc of the unexpected piece.

  23. Apparently, there is one just north of me (between me and my in-laws), so if (when) you eventually make your way to Atlanta, we can go together ;)
