Daily MelWear: From Another Day...

This is clearly not a work-appropriate outfit for my office. So why am I posting it on a work day, you ask?

Because I'm not at work. I'm at home. I feel like poo. And you really don't want to see what I'm actually wearing today.

I felt icky most of the day yesterday and then as soon as I went to bed, it got worse. I felt nauseous, couldn't sleep, my head started pounding, I was shivering and then I was sweating. I probably got about two hours of sleep in between using the restroom, taking pepto, changing from a sweatshirt to a t-shirt, drinking water, coughing, tossing and turning. It wasn't pretty. I'm exhausted.

I got up at my normal time (well, a little later because I hadn't planned to work out), took a shower, and realized there is no way I can go to work today. So I called in. That's not something I do very often, but I had to. I'm completely wiped out.
My mom came over and picked up my daughter like she usually does, so I have until about 2PM when she is going to bring her back so that she can take her nap at home. I've already taken my Nyquil and as soon as I click "Publish", I'm going to bed.

Needless to say, I likely will not be doing much reading or commenting on blogs today. I'll be back to it tomorrow, I hope.

Anyway, this outfit is what I wore a few Fridays ago, with just me and my girl. Apparently I'm big on not wearing make-up on Fridays. I'm not entirely sure I'd be able to wear this skirt to work. It's a little short, I think.

Ooooh, pockets!
Okay fabulous ladies, I'm going back to sleep. Hope you all have a great day!

The outfit:

Purple Tank: Charlotte Russe

Black/White Skirt: Salvation Army

Yellow Wedges: Ross

Necklace/Earrings: Wal-Mart

Daily MelWear: Oh Monday...

I earnestly wish that I'd worn something sleeveless.  And shorter.

My office is normally somewhere around 69-72 degrees.  I have a space heater under my desk.

Not today, however.  Not today.

Instead, the AC is broken, so it's 80 degrees in here. The AC company is on site trying to fix it. It breaks a lot, but it's never been quite this hot in here before. I guess it hasn't broken since the start of this unusually warm summer.

To add insult to injury, I think I might have caught what The Princess had last week. I don't have a fever (well, I might now with it being so stinkin' hot in here), but my throat is a little sore, my head hurts, my nose is congested and I'm just exhausted and so sleepy.

I did get up at my usual 4:30AM to work out, but I just did a two-mile Leslie Sansone walk instead of my normal Insanity or The Firm routines.

What I'd really like to do is go right back to bed. I'm so tired. I suppose that's the reason I feel so blah about this outfit. It's just sort of okay to me. It works, I'm clothed, but it doesn't do much for me. Oh well. Tomorrow is another day!

So how was YOUR weekend? How's your Monday starting out?

Today's outfit:

Top (all one piece): Kohl's

Skirt: Ross

Belt: Plato's Closet

Shoes: My mom (Payless, I think)

Pink Earrings/Necklace: Beya

Questions, questions, questions...

Sara over at Mommyland tagged me in her recent Questions post. I love these! It's fun to answer questions, hence the reason for the FormSpring.

So here we go!

1. If you could raid one celebrity's closet, who would it be?
Heh.  Good question.  I don't really follow celebrity fashion so I kind of have no idea. I'm so lame...

2. What is your all time favorite movie and why?
And another good question. Geez! I pretty much like any of the Disney animated movies (Nemo, Aladdin, Lion King, etc.). Waiting for Guffman is pretty awesome. Oh, and we just saw The Hangover - HYSTERICAL.

3. If you could only eat one food everyday forever, what would you eat?
Probably pizza, just cuz I can change it up with different cheeses, crusts, toppings (huh, almost like a LBD is versatile in its own way)...

4. What is the best gift you ever received?
My daughter!

5. Are you Team Edward or Team Jacob? (Come on, you know you love it!)
Honestly, I can't pick just one. I'm not a huge fan of Robert Pattinson generally and Taylor Lautner is more attractive, but if I were to go solely on their personalities and just the books, I'd go with Edward. But for the movies, it's Jacob.

6. What's the first thing that pops into your head when you see this word: Love.
Red.

7. Favorite concert you've seen?
Hm.  I haven't been to very many. Maybe NKOTB on their comeback tour because I was with friends on a girls' night out which is SUPER RARE these days as a mommy.

8. At a yellow light, do you speed up or slow down?
Depends on how far away I am from the light. :)

Thanks for tagging me Sara! I'm so flattered that you thought of me and this was FUN!

Daily MelWear: The Real Me

Working 10 hour days Monday - Thursday is worth it to me when I get to spend Fridays with my girl.

And per my usual, this morning I threw on something comfy and decided to go make-up free. So this is me!

This black dress is one of my favorites.  I've never worn it without another shirt layered underneath or a cardigan over top, but since all I'm doing is cleaning, blowing bubbles outside and maybe grocery shopping later, I figured this was just fine. Can you see the cute flower detail the right side (my right, not yours) of the neckline?

I love my new red snakeskin belt and I adore red and turquoise together, so I added the turquoise necklace and earrings.  To finish it off, I plan to wear these leopard sandals once I leave the house.

But for now, here I sit, on my couch, blogging, reading, commenting, glass of wine on the table, laptop on my lap, Princess Girl napping.

I love Fridays.

Especially naptime on Fridays.

Good grief, that sun is bright.

Today's outfit:

Black Dress: Plato's Closet

Red Snakeskin Belt: Salvation Army

Turquoise Necklace/Earrings: Wal-Mart

Leopard Sandals: Kohl's

And hey, don't forget!

Ask me something on FormSpring (there's also a box on my right sidebar of the blog)!  I love answering questions.  There's something thrilling about seeing that little red number showing me that I have new questions to answer.

Friend Friday: Blogger Privacy

Katy brought up an interesting topic for this week's Friend Friday: privacy.  This is something that every blogger has to take into consideration and I think it's interesting to learn what some people consider private and others consider to be just fine to share with the world.

1. Do you think privacy is something we should worry about as bloggers?
I think more than privacy, safety is something that we should take into consideration.  I am generally not a very private person.  I'm very open, I don't mind sharing about myself (although there are some things that only a handful of people know about and it's going to stay that way!), but I do need to think about what is going to keep my family and me safe. Every reader that I've interacted with thus far has been fantastic, but there are some people out there that are just crazy and I don't want them having access to every piece of information.

2. Do you use your real name or a pen name? What was behind that decision?
I use my real name: Melissa.  However, I've never revealed my husband or daughter's names on the blog for their privacy (and for the safety of my daughter).  I recently asked my husband to help me come up with pseudonyms for them because I'm not all that creative and wanted some fun names to refer to them as rather than just calling them my husband or my daughter.  He decided that, like in real life, I should refer to our daughter as The Princess.  She's very much into Beauty and the Beast right now and often calls my husband Beast when she's playing and pretending, so we decided that should be his name on my blog. So from now on, when I refer to The Princess or Princess Girl or something of the like, or to Beast or The Beast or something, you'll know that's my daughter and my husband.

My reason for this is because I don't want strangers (and by strangers, I mean lurkers or the crazies who don't interact or form any relationships) knowing my daughter's name or how to attract her attention if they see her in real life.

3. How much personal information do you reveal about your life beyond the blog?
Quite possibly too much.  Like I said, I'm not a very private person in general and I tend to be very verbose, so I often get long-winded and probably discuss TMI or things that people don't really care about. I try to be witty and interesting and upbeat, but sometimes I just jabber on!

4. What will you never reveal?
Our address, for one thing. But I'm pretty sure no blogger in his or her right mind would ever do that.  I won't reveal our exact city within our general location. So far I haven't revealed what my daughter looks like for more privacy and safety reasons, although she's just so darn cute that I might have to post some pictures eventually. I won't reveal exactly where I work or information about my co-workers, for their privacy.

Other than that, I'll probably talk about pretty much anything!

5. As bloggers, we have to an extent made ourselves 'public' figures. But still there are things that are intimate to each of us that does not need to be known by anyone that stumbles across our blog. How do you determine what is appropriate for public consumption and what is private to you?
A lot of it comes down to safety again (see number 4), but in regards to general things like what we did over the weekend or life events, I try to stick with things that I think other people might be able to relate to or that they would be interested in.  Then again, like I said in number 3, I tend to be long-winded and just chatter on about everything.
I consider many of you with whom I've interacted to be friends and as such, I like to share some of my personal life with you in an effort to build relationships and just be relate-able and approachable. There are some aspects of my life that only a handful of people know about and I want to keep it that way.  Other than that, I'll pretty much tell you anything!

If you have any specific questions for me, don't hesitate to ask on my FormSpring (there's also a box on my right sidebar of the blog)!

You can also follow me on Twitter and become a fan on Facebook. I enjoy building new relationships so connect with me!
